I think I had a similar problem...
the difference In mine was that I am running a separate head unit not the factory unit. I solved my problem by powering the head unit with the same Permanent live & neutral as the amplifier. Basically I was getting an earth/static loop through my amplifier...
hi Johnny
I now have both running. basically spliced the back doors into the rears.
This is parts of a future project - i am hoping to fit an alpine 4 channel amp in the boot to run the front doors, Front Tweeter's, rear doors and parcel shelf speakers.
Shouldnt be long now - Just etching a...
Done a mod at the weekend which i thought was worth showing.
Parts:
speakers - i used alpine coaxials 165mm - they came with tails when new.
speaker adaptors/spacers - i had a pair of plastic ones left from previous car
speaker wire - i used 0.5mm - 6m worth approx 3m per side
through crimps...
Signal to RCA from the boot speakers would work fine.
But if it was me wanting as good a quality as i can i woould:
use a Parrot SOT lead - then you can split out the factory speaker outputs
attached the signal to RCA in behind the radio isung the rear speaker outputs
run a 5m rca lead to the...
Hi
I ran a 12v supply straight from the battery through a gromit in the firewall which was on the right as you look from the front. But.. i do have the 2.4 which i hear is the easiest to do this with.
Another option is to run it under the car (if you have access to a lift/ramps. then come in...
The remote line from an aftermarket headunit is only 12v.
You could run a 12v supply from the cigarette lighter (which I believe only comes on when ignition is on).
Might be worth fitting a switch somewhere too.
you only need a bit if stranded 0.5mm
HI
Managed to get my hands on some very corroded but straight rx8 wheels locally.
Using :
1x putty primer/filler
2x grey primer
2x trade silver spray paint
2x Gloss lacquer
lots of 75mm DA sander pads (250 to get the corrosion off & 400 to get it smooth)
lots of wet & dry 1000grit
I did...
HI John
Here is the long awaited wiring setup. Sorry its a bit poor but it should make sense!
Also if your interested. this is how it looks now.
However this is going to change this weekend. I'm installing my alpine R10's this weekend and I have changed the plate above the radio to...
Hi John
I dont see why it wouldnt work with the sat nav system. You just might have trouble isolationg the speaker outputs depending on whether you want to amplify the headunit you are installing.
My e-mial is chris.taylor.2@hotmail.co.uk If you need to ask anything.
the relay board is...
For me it was 4 reasons:
1. I like all of the gadgets in a car to work
2. the Alpine unit i installed does'nt have a cd player (which i sometimes use)
3. the std radio gets better radio reception i always find
I got told the same. Just clicked one night how to do it. Was gutted by the thought of not having USB, Bluetooth & Subs!
im working on the diagram buddy. I will most likely do it on lunch 1 day at work. then scan it in so please excuse my ***** handwriting skills.
when I drew it up at home...
Hi
Thanks
Tried impact driver on second side but still wouldn't. Heads just rounded off at first opportunity. Actually used my dremmel on 1 to cut a new pozi head into the screw.
Ended up having to leave the screws out. but the new discs were a nice tight fit so no problem once the wheels...
Hi
Fitted some Mtec grooved and drilled fron discs on Friday. And some EBC blackstuff pads.
Word of warning getting the old discs off was a t**t. They have 2 little Phillips bolts holding the discs in place which will not come out easy. Went through 10 drill bits getting 1 side done...

Being fitted next:
