What's wrong with my AC compressor?

No its a pre-facelift diesel but the fuse is in the same place as your DIY guide. I had another go and have the following observations: I thought the heater fuse had blown but it hadn't. When I started the car up before the fan wouldn't work until i swapped the fuses around without clearing...

What's wrong with my AC compressor?

I noticed my air con was no longer functioning a couple of weeks ago so I followed the handy DIY guide: http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/10382-diagnosing-aircon-problems/ Unfortunately I can only get as far as step 1 - I energised the AC compressor clutch directly from the battery with no...

    Feels like driving on ice

What Dave said. Budget tyres and wintry weather don't tend to mix too well. I remember driving a previous car a few years back where the previous owner had fitted budget tyres to the front wheels. Granted the road was a bit greasy but the steering wheel had very little effect on my car's...

Just thinking about buying a 2006 Honda Accord 2.2 EX

Apart from the stuff mentioned above I'd be worried about the car being clocked - A diesel having covered less than 10,000 miles a year could be suspicious (It certainly is to me). Make sure you check the MoT history (It can be done online if you have the VIN number) and check the service...

    Turbo noise accord 04'

It could be a symptom of a turbo nearing the end of its life. However, like the last 2 posters said, if your car is using much oil, isn't smoking and seems to be performing normally then I wouldn't worry about a bit of turbo noise.

    Turbo noise accord 04'

That sounds exactly like my turbo - same mileage but 55 reg. Noise goes away when the engine is warm. It probably is due to wear and tear on the turbo or slightly generous tolerances in the bearings or whatever but as my car has been making that noise for 60,000 miles without any change i'm...

no power low down on diesel ?

It does sound like an EGR problem and it might still be sticking even if its not that dirty (Mine was). Have you got any error codes? To test the valve, take off the EGR valve block and apply 12 volts to across the two pins. I can't remember which pins are used but if you look at the...

I think my clutch is slipping

Give your local dealer a ring - you may be pleasantly surprised. When I phned up for a pre-emptive quote just in case Rowes Honda in Plymouth quoted me £700 for a new clutch fitted or £1100 if the DMF needed doing as well.

Stuck EGR sypmtoms - but my EGR has been mapped out...

Well I've had a look in the EGR valve now - the valve was fully closed but I'd kind of expected that as it was driving normally yesterday. There was a bit of soot in there but nothing major. The valve seemed really reluctant to move at first so I'm guessing its opening partially on start up...

Stuck EGR sypmtoms - but my EGR has been mapped out...

Hi Fahad, I'm going to take the valve off later today and see what's going on. Thanks for the offer of help - I'll be in touch when I've got a better idea of whats going on in there!

Stuck EGR sypmtoms - but my EGR has been mapped out...

Hi, I'd appreciate some advice on a minor issue I've been having with my pre-facelift i-cdti recently. Occasionally when the car has first been started up it really struggles to rev and stalls quite easily. The problem clears up when the engine has warmed up. These are exactly the...

    Parking Sensor woes

I didn't use a fuse but there is no reason why you couldn't if you were concerned about over voltage. Saying that, I'm not sure what power the parking sensors use but it won't be a lot so even a domestic 3 amp fuse will probably be overkill. You'll know if the sensors aren't working as it'll...

    Parking Sensor woes

There's loads of space behind the bumper but you still need to remove it in order to feed the sensors wires through in to boot / spare wheel well. Fortunately its dead easy and there's a guide on here. With drilling the holes, you've probably seen the supplied tool in the box already...

    New EGR £587 + VAT?

My EGR valve started to show symptoms like yours and gradually got worse. I found there wasn't any physical problem with the EGR valve and the pipework and valve body were remarkably clean. However, there was quite a bit of soot in the valve slide ***embly itself which meant it wouldn't move...

Corrosion ? - buying tourer seen really bad surface rust on one

My 55 plate tourer started life in Aberdeen. I had to treat one of the wheel arches to some kurust and a respray as it was starting to get a bit crusty and I think the other wheel arch could do with some tlc at some point. Hope fully that will keep the spread in abeyance for another 2 or 3...

Best place to buy a new rear caliper?

Many thanks for the offer Rob - I've already been on to Brakes International and got a caliper from there but your offer is much appreciated.

    New EGR £587 + VAT?

I think "urgently" is over-egging it somewhat - my EGR valve was playing up much more frequently than that, at least a couple of times a week but after a good clean didn't need blanking off. Either way, it would be a lot more cost-effective to visit Fahad and get a remap which is what I did -...

Best place to buy a new rear caliper?

So my driver side rear caliper is binding on for the third time in as many months. I don't think I can ignore it any more and need to replace it rather than clean it up yet again. Where's the best place to get an oem replacement? Direct from a Honda md or will euro car parts et al be able to...

    Air con service?

If you get it serviced the garage should treat it with some anti-bacterial stuff as well as re-gassing. Air con systems can get a bit pongy after a while. Any garage who offers an air-con service should be able to do this not just a Honda MD.
