DIY 6th Gen Drop Links Howto

Fantastic tutorial - really impressive camera work

    New car

Anti-roll bar bushes - replaced an original with a cheapo from EuroCarParts, and two years later it was clunking like buggery so I've put the original one back on and it's much sweeter! I think the genuine Honda ones might be well worth the money. +1 with the drop links though - very delicate...

    New car

The only other thing I'd add to the list is to have the rear brakes serviced, as the slider pins can corrode and seize the callipers. A spot of waxoil on the brake pipes won't go amiss either. The suspension is surprisingly bulletproof. Mine's done 148k and still on original components.

    abs wheel sensor

Did you get any further with this? I've got an intermittent abs light, and when I've flashed the codes (using the instructions from this forum - many thanks) I get the fault code '15' - Right Rear wheel sensor open circuit. Looks like I'm also in the market for an abs sensor.

    alarm keeps going off HELP!

Similar thing happened to me last year. It was a problem with the key fob - switched to the spare fob and it didn't happen again.

    Accord cambelt cost

Mine's just hitting 140k and I'm in the same kind of dilemma. I've been quoted £95 for the timing belt kit (2 belts + tensioner pulleys) from my local motor factors if that helps.

    P0401..EGR insufficient flow

Managed to get it done this afternoon after reading this tutorial on another forum. Is this the one you were referring to luvmyaccord? http://accordownersclub.co.uk/6th-5th-generation-accord/1466-egr-cleaning.html

power steering pipe replacement or repair?

My power steering pipe went about 2 years ago. It had corroded at the front near the radiator where it is exposed to all elements. My local garage by-passed the front pipe with a short length of flexi-hose and charged me about a tenner. Two years later it hasn't caused a problem.

    ATR buying

I've not got the type R, only the standard 2 litre, but it has been dire on the rear brakes. The calipers have a tendency to seize.

    P0401..EGR insufficient flow

Hi My engine management light came on this morning and although I haven't had chance to check the codes yet, I suspect it is the EGR again. I watched the 'Eddie the Car Guy' video on Youtube and had a look today, but I am struggling to take the fuel rail away from the block. Undoing the two...

    Poor fuel consumption?

Mine's doing about 24mpg at the mo - mix of short journeys and slightly longer mixed runs, and I drive like an old gimmer these days!. I had a Primera eGT before this and that engine was superb. Even when I caned it, it would still never drop below 30mpg. The VTEC engine might be reliable...

    Seized Rear Brake Caliper

Thanks for the advice about copper grease attacking the rubber. I'll get new rubber seals with the new caliper pins when I buy them. I've ordered some red rubber grease off 'a popular auction site' and I'll give the bolt holes a good clean out and pack them with the grease next weekend. It's...

    Seized Rear Brake Caliper

Thanks I'm going to see how it gets on with the replacement caliper pins first. I think I'll need to keep a closer eye on the rear brakes - only got new pads fitted at christmas! If the problem persists it might be a replacement caliper job.

    Seized Rear Brake Caliper

Noticed a noise from the rear of the car last week and when I looked at the back brake there didn't seem to be much of a pad left! I jacked up the car, axle stands etc and unbolted the caliper and the problem seems to have been caused by the caliper pin being seized. I cleaned it off with...

Strange noise and Engine management light on

Can't praise the Gendan company highly enough. Ordered a code reader at 3pm on Friday afternoon and it arrived first post Saturday morning. £70 well spent.

Cheers for the link. Are a couple of the bolts a bit inaccessible?

Strange noise and Engine management light on

I'll get round to changing the cabin filter in a month or so when I do the regular oil and filter changes. It isn't too long since I did it - less than 12 months. It was a bit mucky but not completely black. It's a bit of faff taking the glove box out etc to get to it though. Thanks for...

Strange noise and Engine management light on

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the two things aren't connected. The noise has gone away all by itself and I plugged a code reader in this morning and got the fault code: P1491 EGR valve insufficient lift. Could it be that lots of short journeys from cold is causing it to gummed up? Am I...

Strange noise and Engine management light on

Starting up the car a few days ago I heard an odd buzzing or clicking sound that I hadn't heard before. I had been listening to the cricket on LW in the morning so ***umed it was poor reception on the radio. On the 10 minute journey home I realised it wasn't the radio but instead seemed to be...
