Looking for a new car, possibly between Passat and 8th gen Accord, need help to decide

Thanks for the useful info much appreciated. TBH I would happily go for a petrol version, the only problem is I do a lot of miles mainly motorways, 20k per year. Therefore I think I might be temped to go for a diesel and will be going to view 1 tomorrow actually. Fingers crossed it wont be a lemon.

Looking for a new car, possibly between Passat and 8th gen Accord, need help to decide

Sorry that's what I meant, illegal to drive with the DPF removed. How do you know if the DPF has been removed? Should I avoid cars that have this removed?

I read a few days ago that the government is going to make DPF removal illegal, is that true or not?

Looking for a new car, possibly between Passat and 8th gen Accord, need help to decide

Hi guys, just had my 7th gen Accord written off and I'm currently looking for a replacement asap. I'm looking at VW Passats and 8th gen Accords. I'm leaning more towards the Accord, however just wanted to know if the 8th gen is reliable and whether I should go for petrol or diesel? I've read...

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

Hi guys, just to update you all on the latest. I ordered the APPS sensor from a breakers yard for £75.00 on the Saturday and was hoping to get it fitted the following week. However unfortunately I had a car accident the following Monday, before the part had even arrived. The accident resulted in...

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

Just to update you guys, I have some good news in that I have managed to source the pedal sensor from a number of breakers yards across the UK. I didn't really fancy buying a new one for £200 plus. The prices range from between £75-£100, with guarantees of between 1 and 3 months. As long as the...

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

Hi guys yes it's me again and unfortunately bad news. As I was driving home yesterday evening the engine management light came on again, just a few miles from home as well. So I parked the car on the hard shoulder and turned the engine on, just the same as every other time this has occurred. As...

Just to give you all the latest update on this. I have driven the car for the last 3 weeks, covering a couple of hundred miles and everything seems to be fine, with no issues reported. I have also driven the car on the motorway, without using the cruise control and again no issues reported. So...

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

Thanks for the useful info Jon_G, much appreciated. I did pass onto my mechanic what you stated in the earlier post. Where you mentioned that it will most likely happen again, after the ABS sensor was replaced. Now that it has I just want to get to the bottom of this, as it has been going on now...

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

Bad news guys, really bad news. Drove the car a couple of hundred miles over the last few weeks without any problems. However this morning on the way home, I could feel the car not accelerating as it did in the past. The car felt unresponsive and restricted. I could feel this and eventually it...

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

£300 Plus VAT and I've also driven over 80 miles in the last 24 hours. Everything seems fine and the car is definitely driving better than before the ABS sensor was replaced. Fingers crossed it will stay this way, will just have to keep an eye on it over the next week or so. I'm sure if there's...

Just had the rear ABS sensor replaced by my mechanic today. Drove my car over 30 miles without using cruise control and so far so good. Will test it over the next week or so, fingers crossed it wont go into limp mode.

Just had the engine cut out while driving to work. Engine management light and VSA light lit

I think the Greenflag mechanic checked the codes with his diagnostic machine and told me it was showing the accelerator pedal sensor as being faulty. Fingers crossed it will be the same issue and should be a quick fix. In the meantime I'm using cruise control when I drive on the motorway. It got...
