    Problem starting hot and cold

Car ran nicely with the new pressure valve, but starting heading back to its old tricks again fairly soon. Could be injectors? fuel pump providing too much pressure? something is destroying the pressure reducing valve, and I've no idea what it is !! I've cut my losses and moved it on 'with a...

Wobble in 4th gear under hard acceleration

I would say driveshafts beyond doubt. I spent a good 6 months going through all the 'might be' ideas, only to find out that Honda are very aware of this problem (try calling Honda UK customer service - they know all about it, but won't offer help with the cost). I went for genuine Honda...

    Problem starting hot and cold

Hi all, I've finally had a chance to carry out the pressure relief valve as detailed on the Civic forum http://www.civinfo.com/forum/how/111264-how-diagnose-replace-faulty-over-pressure-relief-valve-2006-2-2-ctdi.html The diesel pumped nicely into the jar, so ***ume a new pressure relief...

    Problem starting hot and cold

That's true - this is the 3rd rail though! (including the original), which is why changing just the pressure valve for one that is definitely not from the same batch may be a good idea! Cheers

    Problem starting hot and cold

One of the first things we did was check for leak-back, and they were uneven, but the garage that I use for non-DIY jobs refused to try and remove the injectors as they had come-a-cropper before with damage to the head because the injectors were seized in. I believe that there are companies that...

    Problem starting hot and cold

Just an update from me; Elation now deflated; Now on my third fuel rail (original replaced with used £90 Ebay buy, which then produced the same starting problems after a couple of thousand miles, then this was replaced with a used £60 Ebay buy, which is failing even sooner). Lucky it's a...

    Problem starting hot and cold

Okay, so after all this time messing about, I've popped on a used injector rail (£90 + delivery via 247spares) and the problem is sorted! Two things; 1) Thank you all. The forum has been more help than anything or anybody else. 2) This is clearly an inherent problem with these cars, as well as...

    Problem starting hot and cold

There is vastly more leak back in one injector than the others, which are all uneven. Worth trying the pressure relief valve. this seems a much easier task that changing the injectors (shouldn't injectors be a serviceable item?

    Problem starting hot and cold

Thanks for the update. I have mine parked up at work now while I decide what to do with it. Unfortunately, the engine light is now on as well! I might just put it up for sale as a bad starter. if it doesn't sell, then I guess I need to look into it further. Cheers

Finally - I have a bit of time to go visit my car tomorrow. It sounds like one of the injectors is faulty and leaking back. The garage where it is won't touch it through fear of snapping off a retaining bolt, and the same answer at the other 2 garages that I use. Is there anybody on the site...

Thanks for your response Jon. I really would like to save this car. apart from anything, I'm way out of pocket on it. even my kids are gutted at the thought of changing it. I think the 'leak test' has been done (I don't think the pic below has worked), but results are unclear, so I'll talk to...

    Problem starting hot and cold

Be interested to know how you get on. I've just posted this; Hi All, I've had some hot starting problems from my i-CDTI for some time now. I had a thread running on here previously, from which I gained enough information to get hold of crank and camshaft sensors. The problem was bearable, and...

Hi All, I've had some hot starting problems from my i-CDTI for some time now. I had a thread running on here previously, from which I gained enough information to get hold of crank and camshaft sensors. The problem was bearable, and intermittent, so the sensors sat in the glovebox, until...

accord 04 hot starting problems solved (kinda)

Fingers crossed Jon, it's a lovely car, and great for work visits and long drives through Europe with the wife & kids .... I just can't believe how much trouble I've had with it. In 30K miles, I've replaced the driveshafts, Brake master cylinder and dual mass flywheel (popped a new clutch in...

accord 04 hot starting problems solved (kinda)

Thanks Jon, I'm hoping to drop by there on Saturday morning to carry out a leak-back test. He needs to check that he has the correct syringe bodies etc to carry out the test. I'm waiting to hear back from him. Cheers

accord 04 hot starting problems solved (kinda)

Thanks Jon, I've popped into a mate's garage, who has a diagnostic system, but more importantly can carry out the injector leak-back test for me, but like ebod - I may have to wait. We had a good chat, and also wrote off the ECU idea, but all felt that the crank sensor breaking down when hot...
