    Boost gauge install on ictdi

Hi Neither; I'm attempting a full custom gauge with a running linear LED display (each LED registering 1psi). I'm basing it on a mechanical vacuum gauge for the pressure pickup values, but the rest will be a complete custom setup moulded into the dash above the clock. Regards, Grant

    Boost gauge install on ictdi

    Massive help, thanks :)

    Boost gauge install on ictdi

Thanks, I see where you're pointing to. I take it there are special 'taps' you can buy, as you are essentially drilling a hole into the large inlet pipe?

Brilliant, thanks. Gonna sound really dumb now; exactly where is the pipe you're referring to? - Grant

Is there a permanent fix for the squeaky clutch?

Hi, Did mine with multi purpose grease. Got a syringe, took off the needle and sucked up the grease (takes ages to load!). After that I got a small plastic hose, stuck it on the end of the syringe and pressed the clutch pedal in halfway by hand. I then stuck the other end of the tube inside...

    Boost gauge install on ictdi

Hi all, Im looking at installing a turbo boost gauge for my next mod, and given the choices available I thought I'd ask on here first before diving straight in! I'm after either plumbing in a pressure line to run a mechanical gauge, or tapping into existing sensor to run an electrical gauge...

    Diesel engine 'whine'

UPDATE: New alternator and shorter belt fitted; whine still persists :( Clicking alternator bearing cured though :) Any other ideas as to what usually fails next? Tensioner pulley maybe... - Grant

    Seat back panel removal

Thanks! That really helped. Just destroyed the push clips; so ordered 30 off fleabay :) - Grant

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Ok, Ok, point taken! lol. One final question then; any ideas on manufaturing a tensioner tool to release the tensioner? I ain't splashing out £50 on a tool I'm going to use once; when I've got the short belt for £15 :) - Grant

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Hi all, Definately traced to the serpentine belt; just have to identify which pulley it is now :) - Grant

    Seat back panel removal

Hi all, I'm trying to remove the plastic back of the driver's seat to re-fit the back pocket. As far as I can see it's held in place with snap-fit clips. I'm reluctant to pull on these in case I snap any. Are there any removable clips you can take out first? I just need to get to the inside...

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Sounds like I'll just get a re-con alternator on a p/x with my old one then; IF it turns out to be the root cause of the whining problem. (Seems like much less of a faff) I'll post once I've swapped the belt and alternator. - Grant

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Thanks, So general consensus is that it's the alternator bearing collapsing due to excess stress on the pulley, caused by load of the long belt setup. Is the safest bet to have a recon alternator fitted when I do the belt, or is there a cheaper fix option? - Grant

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Thanks, just read the how-to and ordered a short belt. I suppose just having a shorter run will produce less resonance... - Grant

Any tips on replacing sidelight bulbs?

I've just done this; replaced with LEDs. The plastic rivets are a bit tricky; used 2x flat bladed precision screwdrivers to gently prise out the middle part one notch. The rivet then just pulls free of the trim. Took about 10 mins altogether :) - Grant

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes, the first few seconds is a bird tweeting :) There's no 'off' noises when idling; so no need to post another vid of this. If it's the pulleys; then is it safe to ***ume the 'old' belt setup has worn down the alternator bearings? (I'll be doing the shorter belt...

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Hi again, Thanks for the replys; I've taken a video but not sure how to upload it? I've done a bit of research and I've definately still got the 'long' belt ffitted; there's an idler pulley right next to the alternator :) - Grant

    Diesel engine 'whine'

Hi, It's evident at all temperatures. The more I rev it the more it sounds like a sewing machine! (or a washing machine on spin-dry) If it's common on all the diesels; does this mean that it can't be 'fixed' as such? Thanks for the replies; I'll try and get a video up later. - Grant
