engine rattle

Hi all, My trusty 2.2 tourer might have a big problem.. I let the service slip due to being overwhelmed recently by life demands.. today, while driving, I heard a hiss like an air brake, the engine suddenly sounded rough and rattling, oil light came on. Plenty of oil in the engine.. smelled...
