Good evening please can anyone give any advice on the following problem?
Honda Accord Tourer Automatic 2007, bought from main dealer in September 21,000 miles one previous owner.
Month ago car had puncture. Trailered to garage who repaired tyre. Wheel wobble began to develop around 30mph and got quite bad.
Had wheels balanced and tracking checked but no improvement.
Then changed rear wheel for front which had been punctured which seemed to cure problem.
However wheel wobble has returned after a few days of being OK.
Car has a years warranty but dealer is 40 miles away so don't want to take it in if there's something simple which I've overlooked and would cost less to fix than petrol for 80 miles round trip.
Thank you Mike

Hello and welcome mike. We encourage new members to introduce themselves before posting questions, you'll get a better response.
Have you checked simple things like wheels nuts have not come loose? Also ensure the wheel balancing weights are still present.

Welcome along as Shabz said check the wheel balance

Welcome to TA. How did you get the puncture? Did you clip a kerb or pothole? Did you drive on the flat tyre for a while? Is the car pulling left or right at all? Only it may have knocked something else out of alignment or possibly damaged something. But that's worst case scenario. Probably something like a wheel nut or a balancing weight.

Thanks to you all for your advice regarding the Wheel Wobble.
The Tourer is my first Accord. The car is I think the best looking estate/tourer and is a "proper" estate rather than being a saloon with its boot extended upwards which many on the market seem to be.
Prior to the Accord I had a Civic Estate which was an excellent vehicle but I wanted something larger for when we go on holiday with our two dogs.
The puncture happened as I pulled into a car park for a funeral (such events never occur at a convenient time!) picking up a large felt roofing nail as I pulled up. So it wasn't driven flat.
The road rescue winched the car up onto a low loader for onward transportation to my local garage to fix the puncture. The man from the road rescue said that if the gunge that Honda supply (there's no spare) was used to inflate the tyre it couldn't be repaired (is this true?)
At the other end the garage inflated the tyre so it could be unloaded and I presume that it wasn't driven in a flat condition although I did leave the car whilst the repair was done.
After the wobble started I then had the wheels balanced at a local tyre specialist and the tracking checked. Cost £50 and made no difference.
That's when I changed the rear and front tyres around and the problem seemed to be cured but started again after a few days, although the wobble is not a bad as the original problem.
Once things are back to normal I'll get the wheel which was originally on the back balanced to see if that sorts things out.
Best wishes for the New Year.

PS when I changed wheels over I torqued the nuts them to handbook spec. and checked them again yesterday with torque wrench, no problem.

Good evening I'm pleased to say that the problem appears to have been sorted out.
Had both front wheels balanced although garage said that they were not out by much. This didn't make any difference.
Then the mechanic suggested changing over the other back wheel with the front (the side which hadn't been punctured) and this worked.
I'm still worried that the wobble may return and will keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks for advice, regards mike

The 7th gen accord is very sensitive when it comes to alignment and balancing, to which there's plenty of threads on here. If you had uneven tyre wear from swapping one wheel from the back to the front, this could've been the cause of the wobble, best to change in pairs if you ask me ;)

The wrong tyre pressures - too low- gave mine a slight wobble below 30mph

Thanks for the information, I'll make sure that I keep an eye on the sensitivity etc. of the steering which does seem to be something which happens on the Accord. Regards

i know this is a old post but almost same as mine word for word but i didn't get a flat.. bad wobble only when power is on dip the clutch and freewheel it stops. at its worst 40 mph to 65 mph in 3rd or 4th but cruise at any speed and its fine.. its does feel like its just the N/S wheel
i swapped .the N/S front with the O/S rear and it was fine for about 100MILES then returned .. got the 2 front wheels balanced they were not far out cured prob for about 50 miles so i still have a wobble .
can any one shed some light on this ?
thanks

if you only get it when applying power then it's related to driveshafts
driveshaft related issues do this

apply power - vibration
apply more power - vibration increases
remove power (dip the clutch or coast in neutral) - vibration stops

got to say i was thinking drive shafts but its no vibration more like a heavy wobble and how comes its goes away after swapping wheels .. after swapping wheels around i blasted up and down the A1 and could not get a wobble but next day it came back
going to swap the fronts wheels around in next few days i will let u know how i get on
thanks

While after recently getting new tyres, I found that I had a steering wobble and checked my pressures the other day. One tyre was considerably lower in pressure so I put them as near as I could the same pressure into both. the wobble has considerably decreased, so while I can feel it at higher speeds, I must take a trip back to my fitter for another go on the balancing machine and if that doesn't cure it a full alignment might be on the cards. I'll let you know how I get on.

update just got tracking checked it was spot on got wheels balancing checked again spot on the lads put it on the ramps and checked drive shafts and everything else under there no play on everything am at a lost here, due new tyres soon hopefully that may somehow sort it
thanks

You won't be able to see driveshaft play on these cars. It will be a few worn splines causing it.

Could possibly be the tyres mate, especially if they're a cheap make and worn. Also, I had a tyre place a few years back try to balance my wheels with one weight in the middle instead of the proper way and having inner and outer weights. I kept getting vibration until I took it to another garage and they re did it.
Oh and some garages can balance wheels whilst they're still on the hub of the car.

That's all ***uming your driveshafts are OK as everyone else says. Annoying these problems aren't they??

just noticed a crack in the n/s front disc the wobble seems to come from the n/s .. going to replaced them tomorrow hopefully thats got something to do with the wobble

both discs and new pads replaced today its no better back to the drawing board :)

I can't remember, but did you swap both front wheels with the rear wheels yet ?

I've had a similar vibration creep into mine over the last 20k miles.
Just about to change out the drive shafts, as all the control arms, drop links and track rod ends only have about 17k on them, so it can't be anything else really, particularly as it only happens under acceleration.
If I really stand on the gas hard in 4th it'll pull through the usual rattly 60-70mph range without too much vibration, which would back up the driveshaft theory. Loading up the shafts hard reduces the level of chatter.

I'm only really experiencing it through the nearside, but have always replaced things as pairs.

I'll try and do a how-to when I change them at the end of the month.

Oh, and WillCook1275gt, you can't have a username like that and not post up a pic.
I used to grass track a Clubman 20 years ago as a teen. The only one in a field of round-noses.
I still have a round-nose with a moody 1275 awaiting a rebirth stashed away - my first road car 17 years ago.

yeah done that. when i get time going to put on two wheels off another car on the front too see if it makes a difference ..

if that doesn't make any difference it could be a front wheel bearing

yeah i was a mini fanatic back in the day had loads of them i only have a pic of me for my profile picture :D

Drivers side engine mount looks totally shot to me bud, check the lower gearbox one as well.

I've had a similar experience - started as a wobble at high speed, got the wheels balanced and it was fine, then it started again. Last week I had to do an emergency stop and the wobble started at low speeds. Swapped the tyres front to back and it is fine again. The tyres that were fitted by the last owner are awful and I must have created a flat-spot.
