hi,

the power steering cooler pipe, the one that runs in front of the radiator, has split somewhere, so i'm going to take it off to see if it can be patched, i don't fancy paying the £165 as it says on the lings honda site if i can help it, but before i dive in has anyone got any tips, i can see the one end of the pipe but the other end looks buried behind the bumper, does anyone know of an easier way to get to it?

thanks in advance

tbh i would probably replace it, just not worth the hassle. If repaired you could actually repair it bad and restrict the flow to the cooler.

Have you thought about looking around for a patent part?

Might be able to find one from scrappies? or try holdcroft honda they should give you a lower price than lings if you say your an accord club memeber.

on the industrial estate where i work there's an engineering company that do fluid supplies for machines, one of the guys said if i get the pipe to them they will knock one up for me for "friends rate" :)

even if i buy 3m of pipe myself and have a go at bending it will still be a hell of a lot cheaper, eg:

its just getting the damn thing off!!

well at least the suns out this time when i'm rolling around underneath the car trying not to snap bolts that haven't been moved for years!

My power steering pipe went about 2 years ago. It had corroded at the front near the radiator where it is exposed to all elements. My local garage by-passed the front pipe with a short length of flexi-hose and charged me about a tenner. Two years later it hasn't caused a problem.

yeah it had gone in the same place by the looks of it, did think of just bypassing it, i got the pipe off over the weekend, was surprised how easy it is to get the bumper off, only snapped the head off 1 bolt.

am taking the pipe to be copied later, see how much the mates rates really are, if its still too much i'll just stick in a short section instead.

job done, length of pipe roughly the same shape, 2 swaged ends £20, then an hour for me rolling around under the car again to fit it.

i'm having a go at doing a how to on this, going to try to find some pics online, might be of some help someone in the future
