Guys my mate in work has just brought a 2009 civic type R and he asked me what grade oil is best.
Having looked on civic info forum it seems to range from 0w 30 and 10w 40
As he drives like miss daisy i have suggested 5w 30 as a good between what do you all think.

Sounds good Brett, 5W 30 isn't much thicker than 0W 30 so more protection during warmup when most engine wear occurs during normal driving.

Thanks Cliff I will convert him to silkolene pro as well

5W 30 is the current Honda recommendation for the FN2 anyway under the partnership with Castrol.

Honda now specify 0W20 for the new CTR, but it's a new fully synthetic version, not the semi-synthetic one that some loyal followers have been putting into their Accords.

Correction, the new Honda 0W20 is 'synthetic technology' not fully synthetic, and the safety sheet says it is >90% mineral oil.

Personally I wouldn't put it in an Insight let alone a CTR.
