New remote and new key needed, too expensive on Honda retail

Hi, i really need some help on this, i lost 1 remote control+1 key and now i have no spare in case something goes wrong...
Went to honda dealer here in portugal and they are asking me more than 200€ for that...

Do you know some places where i can order these parts with VIN number other than Honda?
I saw some remote casings selling on ebay, but i would still need some shop to code it and i still need a spare key, already went to keymakers around my area and everyone says they can´t replicate my key :(

My remote is one that has a boot(to open the trunk) button aswell.

I think you can just buy a key from another same model and reprogramme it.

Does the boot button even work? Mine doesn't do anything.

Yes it works, and i use it a lot actually. You have to keep it pressed near the trunk.
Any place online can do the actual coding on the key? I can´t seem to find a fisical store who can do that...
 
You will need the immobiliser coding. Any decent key specialist can do it these days.
 
Did you get it sorted, I think all you need is a key and follow a few procedures with the ignition that reprograms the key via ECU.

BTW thanks for the tip with the boot button, mine works now, cool feature.
 
As far as the the remote is concerned, I bought one on ebay for about £8 and reprogrammed it using the guide on this forum. You need to open your existing fob and make a note of the serial number on the circuit board, make sure the one you buy has the same number on it. I found a local auto-locksmith who cut a key for me and programmed the immobiliser via the OBD port. It cost about £70. The total should be a little under 200E.
 
Hi Mike, you said £8 for the remote and £70 for the key, that makes £78, far from 200€...
Where did you see the guide on how to program the remote?

To program a new key fob into a 6th gen Accord that works on RF follow these instructions below-

This procedure clears the transmitter codes and creates new ones, so you must program all remotes at the same time, even if one or more is already working.

Enter the car, and close all doors.

Each of the following steps must be completed within five seconds of completing the previous step. If you take longer or make a mistake, start the entire procedure over again.

Insert the key into the ignition, and hold one remote in your left hand. Whenever the instructions say to press the LOCK button, you should press the lock button on the remote for about a second and then release it.

Perform each of the following three steps in order, then repeat all three steps two more times, for a total of three times each:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, marked II.
2. Press the LOCK button.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the Off position, marked I.


Do this three times!


Next, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (II) for a fourth time.

Press the LOCK button again. The door locks should now make a cycling sound, indicating that the system has entered Programming Mode.

Press the LOCK button one more time to program this remote. If you have other remotes to program, press the LOCK button on each one in turn. The door locks should make the cycling sound after you press LOCK on each remote. You may program up to three remotes, and they must all be programmed within ten seconds of each other.

Turn the ignition off and remove the key. The remotes are now programmed and may be tested.

If you've got a trunk/hatch release, hold the button for this function for a few seconds to open boot

I know this is an old thread, by I only just bought a 2005 Accord, and am trying to get things organised.

It only came with a single key, so I wan't to make some backup plan before the one and only key gets lost.

So, the one and only key was the one with the integrated remote fob.

I got two plain duplicates cut(without remote fob), and have them programmed and working fine.

I've just thought I best duplicate the remote key also, lest it gets lost, then I will have no remote signal to use as the key to copy.

I bought a remote fob and proceded to follow what I thought was the proper sequence, and true enough, the new fob is now programmed.

The problem is that now the original doesn't work anymore.

Can anyone explain how that happens?

I'm now a bit nervous about trying agai, now that I know the keys remote function can be deleted.

I don't want to end up with all of them deleted, then I really wil be up the swanny!

SORTED - Just installed the excellent DVD from Winchester and found the detailed instructions.
