Hello,
This has to be the first car fault I've had where I've not been able to find hundreds (or even one) instance of the same problem on forums or the wider web.
The 2/3 portion of my 2005 Tourer rear seats have stopped folding as they should. The 1/3 portion is still fine. The headrest folds and the seat-back releases, but when I try to fold the back forward the base does not rise. The base feels as though it is remaining securely latched and not being released. It feels like it is 'trying' to rise, but the latch is not allowing it too.
Has anyone experienced this, or any ideas to help solve the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Andy

Hi Andy, i had (almost) this sort of trouble when folding my tourer 2/3 rear seat down. I found a vigourous shake  while pushing the back of the seat back and fore, and manipulating the seat portion up and down. after a while the seat part popped up to allow the back to stow flat.
It seemed like the mechanism gets caught up in its own geometry. but with some gentle persuasion......
I hope this helps. as basic as it may seem. if it doesnt work and something in the seat mechanism has failed, then i'm with you..... up the creek.....
Cheers.

Welcome to the forum. It's standard mate. Don't be afraid to get rough with the old she. She'll love it ;)

Thanks for the responses, I'll have to try harder.
Rob - where did you spray the silicone?

Cheers
Andy

get hold of the seat at the side at the back, and pull up while tilting the back forward a tad.

Whack the latch with a hammer, thats what I did, Sometimes it's just the seat belt anchor getting ijn the way, but got to admit it is a PITA.

I've had the same problem. Like others, I found repeated persuasion, moving the squab up and down at the same time as the back, eventually freed it. It does seem like the seat belt anchor gets in the way, but if I can get to the hinge cantilevers, I'll give them a greasing and see if that helps.

Next problem to search for..... moist seat belt. Oooh missus.
