Littlebo/UKCL9 CL9/CM2 - K24 Reflash/Remap Test ECU

Yeah. It is an English car tho it was Hondas demonstrator for six months before they sold it to the last owner so I ***ume they ordered it to be abit of a showcase for customers interested in the accord

2nd gear is not for drag racing, don't forget Toyota is 200kg lighter, that's why winning 0-62mph 6.6s vs 7.1 but still loosing at 90-100mph. After reflash you can do 1/4 mile on 3rd gear :-D
And that Yamaha 2ZZ-GE is amazing, Celica and Lotus Elise got the same engine.

Hi here!

I've reflashed my ECU this week. My setup have just a Fujita CAI yet. I've made some video to mesure gain. I don't like 0-100 km/h (not good for clutch, gearbox, gimbals....), so I measure 50 to 130 km/h acceleration in each gear (3, 4, 5, 6).

First test, 3rd gear:

https://youtu.be/dTT1BCruvDw

I did something similar few weeks ago.

-gear--rpm----stock---reflash----gain
1st 4-5k ------ 0.46s -- 0.43s --- 7.0%
1st 5-6k ------ 0.50s -- 0.44s -- 13.6%
1st 6-7k ------ 0.47s -- 0.44s -- 6.8%
1st7k-2nd5k 1.99s -- 1.78s -- 11.8%
2nd 5-6k ----- 1.48s -- 1.35s --- 9.6%
2nd 6-7k ----- 1.43s -- 1.38s --- 3.6%
------------------------------------------------------
Total ----------- 6.33s -- 5.82s --- 8.8%

Times are average from 3 runs each , same road, similar weather.
1st 7k to 2nd 5k includes shift, not the fastest at ~7100 and ~7500 with accelerator released.

So ther you have it 0.5s better. This is very good improvment from reflash on NA engine.
1/4 mile should be around 15.2s so close to FN2 :p
I'm obviously talking about Type S saloon. Executive with all extra toys is ~80kg heavier from what I know.

One week after reflash, I need to do a full review of it.

First I want to congratulate Frazer for its professionnalism. Monday, I shipped 2 ECU by TNT express from France, they were delivered tuesday afternoon... Tuesday evening, Frazer has flashed the ECUs and then they were picked back wednesday by TNT express. Thursday both ECU were back to my office in Paris! Great!!!

In add, as we've paid just a lit bit more than expected, Frazer has refunded me very quickly.

Now tests... As I said previously, I don't like 0-100 km/h (not good for clutch, gearbox, gimbals....), so I measure 50 to 130 km/h acceleration in each gear (3, 4, 5, 6). My setup has only Fujita CAI, sure results will be better with full bolt-on add-ons.

50 to 130km/h, 6th gear:
https://youtu.be/QMX1mSlC70w
Stock ECU has a kind of "hollow" at 2500rpm, reflashed ECU erase it completely.

50 to 130km/h, 5th gear:
https://youtu.be/0joow5W5rro

50 to 130km/h, 4th gear:
https://youtu.be/BqvmwaMbIk4
On the last 2 videos in 5th and 4th gear, it's clear that the gain is at the low-end torque, below 3000-3500 rpm, then both stock & reflashed seem to accelerate similarly.

50 to 130km/h, 3rd gear:
https://youtu.be/Am-dLdea898
On this last video, we can see the growing gap in VTEC starting at 4500rpm

50 to 130km/h, 2nd gear (no comparison)

Are these maps still available? I have a 2004 2.4 Exec with 163000 miles on the clock (full service history). Would it even be sensible to reflash the ecu or would it bring problems?

Car has been so reliable I don't want it to have troubles

Cheers Rich

Hi Rich, i flashed cars with 400k km on the clock and they performed amazing. It doesnt matter how much miles u have , it matters how you operated it and how well and proper its been maintained. So you can find dead engine with 50k and wealthy with 200. Go test flashed ECU and youll see the difference immediately.

A friend showed up with FN2 he recently purchased.
I've never driven a Type R before so was excited to have a go, he followed in my CL9.
FN2 felt soooooo slow compared to my reflashed CL9, I think even in stock form I would prefer CL9.
It did have a more noticeable VTEC, but lack of torque just made it feel slow.

One thing I did like was the gearing, 2nd gear was nice and short compared to CL9s

Ow, and my friend got out saying "this thing is much faster bro" :D

Not surprised really.
Just look at dyno graphs reflashed cl9 vs stock fn2

Rpms--------Civic FN2 ------Accord CL9---
3000-----70hp/160Nm---90hp/215Nm
4000---100hp/175Nm---125hp/220Nm
5000---125hp/175Nm---155hp/220Nm
6000---160hp/190Nm---180hp/220Nm
7000---195hp/195Nm---200hp/200Nm
8000---208hp/185Nm

Civic got 20-25% less power and torque below Vtec@5400rpms and it's only 10-15% lighter.

Yeah. But ctr has a Joker. Tranny ! It helps to ride torque wave while cl9 tranny is only good to follow the funeral. I did reflash for fn2 and it drives better though.

Littlebo, I think I have been talking to your nz rep on nzhonda forums - i just want to confirm your flash is available for jdm cl7 euro r (2006).
I was told the rev limit is not raised, just vtek point and fuel maps.

I see you talking about more torque lower down im this thread on k20s but wasnt sure if you talking about the 220bhp euro r's or the slow stunted k20 cl7s

Yes littlebo can reflash the jdm euro r.if your worried pm him your ecu part number.

Rev limit is only slightly raised, vtec will come in at round 5k rpm and be a very smooth cross over.

Look on page 9 post 164 for a small euro r reflash review

Hope this helps

A question ive been meaning to ask about this reflash or the K24 in general, is the vtec engagment just rev dependant ie: 4600 on reflash, or is it throttle position dependant too? If so how much throttle % engages it?
Im still loving every second of this reflash by the way, it still surprises me sometimes how rapid it can be, especialy combined with the CAI.
Cheers.

I'm not expert but I think it's definitely rev dependent only @4600rpms.
Civic 1.8 r18a2 has that throttle position or actually engine load dependent vtec.

Oh right you mean the civic 8th gen with the 1.8 sohc engines?
Different set up to the K series completely then.

What is rev limit raised to?
I don't see point in raising on a stock k20a except to decrease engine life. Wouldn't max power be well before limit?

It's the only thing putting me off the reflash tbh
