Hello,

recently I bought my Accord 7th gen. My brakes are not in perfect condition and need some parts changing. I'm thinking about instead of buying OEM brakes parts to buy big Brembo brakes. My aim is to buy really big brakes for my Accord :p :D
So for front brakes:
- change front rotors disc from 300mm to 320mm (from 8th gen may be)
- Brembo 6 pot calipers 17z - like these ones

I will need some calipers adaptor to install them, probably I will find workshop for custom made, because I'm unable to find some on the market.

For rear brakes:
- Change current 260mm rotors to 300mm (stock front discs for 7th gen)
- Change the calipers to 4 pot Brembos like these:

Again custom caliper adaptors will be needed.

My concern is: will the OEM brake fluid pump work with these calipers? Will some modification needed ? Also will the ABS work fine it them?

Cheers!

Man, they'd pull your face off if you had to stop in a hurry!! What's under the bonnet that warrants such an awesome upgrade????

Hey dood, you dont need those rear brakes at all , untill you r looking to impress few chicks =) All the braking occurs on front axis , so look there. CU2 rotors are whole crap , they are too heavy , u need something like 330x28, they will do the job well without excessive overwheight. Calipers looks cool but they are excessive for the weight you gonna stop, 4pot brembo off Acura is ok ! you need to do a lot of custom job to fit em and you also need wheels with correct offset, stockish will not fit .

If you dont have 300hp under hood then just upgrade to TSX \ euro-r ones , they have more meat on the rotors and you can use nice pads with em .

Well, I was pretty sure that this upgrade exceed what I need, but I'm looking for the maximum. I know that 4 pot calipers on the front rotors will be enough to stop the car better than now. But after all, will the brake pump be able to work with such calipers? Also will 4 pot Brembo fit in the front without need of special offset whells?
And actually for me is cheaper to find and buy 4/6 pot Brembo for VW/Porshe for example, than to buy Acura's one from the US.

P.S. Do you really think that big rear calipers could impress any chick??! ! :D

In red colour ? Shure , all chicks are yours )) Almost all BBK mods brings some PITA , wheel spacers , studs replacing , custom bracked and so on . If you are looking for maximu then go get carbon brakes off ferrari ) or audi rs6 , they will stop well lol . I know just 1 BBK whick clears stock 17th wheel , all other sets and mods needs wheels upgrade or spacers or both.

Btw , no any brakes, even ultimate, will stop you better then stock , because the weakest point here is your tires , not brakes. You can improve heat capacity, brake torque , modulation, pedal feel and everything else , except your braking distance. Once you jump on brake pedal for extreme braking ABS enables and since that - spot between tire and road is what stops you .

Well lets ask in another way - lets see it it possible to be made and what will need this, and don't stuck on the question do this is really needed :p Almost all tuning is done not because it's needed but because you like it :)

Not my way of tune. dont wanna look like old fart .. but I like result and bang for the buck also, since i have lots of customers and they work hard to earn those funds im always trying to help to do a reasonable investments. If you have rubber budget then you can jump into any adventure . once you are tight then its better to think twice, you can waste all u have and stuck in the middle of the way or even found its not possible at all. all imho , just my experience. i saw more than enough ambitious projects never ended.

pointless doing front BBK if you are using budget tyres

i have spoon sports 4 pot monoblock calipers with type z pads.300x28mm thick disc's.the brake pedal feels epic..push pedal half way down the brake rip your face off.and you feel abs working overtime..and tyres screaming for grip.and i use bridgestone re070 tyres
they are direct fit.

this upgrade is OTT.

hope you got deep pockets they will need a lot of fab work to fit.

Ok, after all it seems that 6 pot calipers are way too much. So more reasonable upgrade will be 4 pot Brembos in front and 2 pot Brembos on the rear rotor, with the OEM size of the rotors (300mm/260mm). To find Integra's calipers is a mission impossible, and if you do the price exceeds too much what you get really. It's very easy to find 300mm 4 pot Brembos from Peugeot 406 Coupe V6 or Alfa GTV. Here only caliper adaptors will be needed I think. But the price will be 1/5 from the Integra's ones.
So is it a good way to put Brembos with adaptors? Some customization sill be needed but it will be much cheaper upgrade.

Shure, brembos are always brembos . U also need to find appropriate rotors to use with em.

and chicks , to say WOW and jump in da cool car ))

Well, the rotors will be EBC with EBC pads also. The whells will be 17" Ultraleggera with appropriate offset (ET35 or less) with some fresh tyres. The chicks are already found :p :D

EBC .... Very mixed feedbacks bout em . I personally didnt tried em but few of my buddies do, overall feedback - they dont worth their price , especially rotors. Warping occurs way too often. One of my fn2 friends tried ebc reds on track day , said its crap, they arent for race at all as advertised.

So what brand should I choose for rotors and pads?

brembo , rotinger , zimmerman , power stop etc . lots of good brands , google for feedbacks, ask your local community and so on . lots of good brake components on the market , and it depends on how deep is er pocket )

Yeah , we all tired here with those brembos , intakes , head portings etc , lets see some chicks , no tune without em is possible ))

Off course, that's why i (a belgian) married an English girl ^^

I did a brake upgrade on my MR2 track car. Just bought yellowstuff pads, and changed the fluid for high boiling point. You can hammer them all day, on sticky track tyres.

The point is, there is very little to be gained, for road use, by fitting, and adapting expensive brake parts.

Although I did not notice the attentions of chicks, so perhaps there is a point to it.

:)

I agree with those who say there's no point in this sort of brake upgrade to a car that'll not be seeing track use (or driving over mountain passes?)... the ABS/tyre/road surface configuration determines how well you stop.

And I'm pretty sure that 'chicks' aren't interested in this sort of stuff at all, but you'll almost certainly attract the attention of lots of other men!

We we can argue lots on that topic, I'm Bulgarian and I think the Bulgarian girls are one of the most beautiful ( as most of the foreigner say too ;) :p )

Let's return to the brakes. My final decision is to use "normal" 4 pot brembo calipers (taken from some Alfa GT, 156 or something similar) So I think the performance will be better and it's not stuff for a track but for a road use.

I have this brembo kit for sale if anyone interested. Sick upgrade for track car.
