Any ideas ......

if I drive the car regularly then no problem and I don't have any lights on the dash that indicate a charge issue, but if I don't use it for a week then its dead, it has a new battery and I straight away thought alternator but with the lack of warning light on the dash has made me question it, any ideas that are obvious that im missing.

Perhaps something is draining the battery when the engine is not running?

The hands-free phone is often the culprit, if you have one?

It happened on me and the Honda mechanic found that was problem of the faulty HFT, he disconnected the unit and cured the problem.

I suggest you to have a full electrical circuit check mate

thanks guys, phone/ hft sounds like a good suspect, gives me an idea where to start.

I had this problem last year as well and it was the HFT. Mine wasn't working anyway so I just disconnected it. Problem solved.
Good luck!

How do you disconnect the HFT? mine doesnt work and the car seems to struggle in the mornings. I have got a new battery to go on but doesnt seem much point until i sort the HFT.

The HTF is connected with the Sat Nav unit, you need to remove the top part of the centre console and access from there.

However, the Sat Nav will lose the voice control if you do so.

Check your earth from the battery as well - I had a weird issue a couple of weeks ago where my battery was pulling 2 Amps with the ignition off - cleaned the earth connection then it was fine. I never really got to the bottom of it but I ***ume it was some kind of relay or something that needed to switch off - strange though
