Hi Guys,

Something on Honda Karma about UK Honda dealers being told the Accord is being discontinued?

Does anyone know any more?

Not a huge surprise I guess, they want to concentrate on Swindon built models and SUVs.

Isn't the accord Acura tsx and another model completely different the accord ( luxury car in US Honda badge )

Maybe they're just getting rid of luxury model

Don't know what I'd buy if accord did go, probably Audi or might squeeze into the new civic type r when it arrives

My wife has her name down for one as company car, I'm not impressed :-(

My local garage never have any Accords in, I'm guessing they've squeezed it out by increasing the size and luxury of the Civic (the estate is actually very nice) and having the CRV as the big one in the range.

The Civic does not compare to the Accord.

The Acura TSX is basically our 8th gen Accord, albeit a bit more plush on the inside. They should release the new TLX as a natural successor to our Accord, it's got a premium feel and look all over it and getting pretty good reviews too.

Unfortunately the Accord is a dead duck.

And has been for 2 or 3 years now.

My local dealership keep saying to me 'wait until 2015 wink wink'....so let's see what happens next year.

This is old news. The writings been on the wall for some time and I've heard/read various things about the Accord being discontinued in Europe (I.e. no 9th gen). Although other parts of the world will still have an Accord or something similar, based on the same platform but with a different name.

Not really old news, as Honda Karma seem to have got hold of a leaked Honda UK dealer memo officially saying the 8th gen is being discontinued.

I know there have been many rumours, but this is the first confirmation.

If anyone is in a Honda dealer ask them if they know more, dates etc?

Sell off of parts and accessories I guess then soon, might be some bargains around.

Honda won't sell off parts, they never do, yeah some accessories might get flogged cheaper but the never lessened the price of the suspension kit of the 7th gen, even long after the 8th gen was launched :( I'm still happy with it though :)

Yes the Accord has been axed, been confirmed by head of Honda Australia too, HUK are bunch of numptys so havent publically announced yet.

We may get a 9th gen in 2016>, so wait and see.

What will this do for 2nd hand values I wonder? Usually it would have anegative effect but the Accord is a car that is much sought after by many loyal buyers so they may hold their values well.

Hardly a surprise. Sadly Honda's UK marketing department need shooting. Relying on a small but loyal following isn't good enough these days.

You average joe slob who has traditionally bought Ford or Vauxhall may be tempted by a Honda if it was marketed a bit more bullishly. Sadly a number of them are now buying what was once seen as a preserve of the genuine middle class and going for Ze German Marques. Was at a large BMW reseller in Kent the other day and there were plenty of these types getting BM's on some pretty horrendous sounding monthly payments. Nothing truly special, but just run of the mill 1 series and 3 series. They may have considered a Honda if they even know they still existed any more.

Remember the Cogs advert for the 7th gen? Honda marketing used to be legendary, now they just don't seem to push themselves. Can anyone remember the alt time they saw an ad for a Honda? The Accord has had it, nobody buys saloons anymore!

That was a fantastic advert.

It would be a shame to lose the Accord name. And TypeAccord would slowly wither as the years went by!

Based on a French car that I used to have, TA membership would increase over 10 years, flatten out, then gradually decrease back to the sort of level it has now.

Mind you loads of Accords at Honda Main Dealers being sold at a discounted price. Including some Type S's too. Maybe they just can't shift them?

I await the new HRV with keen interest, even though it is based on a Jazz! But until then I'm very happy with my 8 gen high spec Accord until middle of next year at least.

Latest info is final orders early 2015, final deliverys May 2015.

Lots of petrol saloons in stock, a few 2.4 also.

Some deals to be done I expect

Well maybe they can pull their finger out of their backside and get me a brand new white full leather EX with no sunroof and with the GT body parts. And the 2.4!!

More chance of them custom building a Legend Coupe, fitting LPG and delivering it my front door for the sum of £500 I'd say.

A quick search on the Honda Approved Used site shows just 1 Accord 2.4 manual available, nationwide!

Amazingly it's just 9 miles from me so I might pop over for a test drive.

I meant new ones actually. There is a stock list on Honda Karma. Shows new 2.4s in stock and production pipeline.

Seriously tempted by a 2.4 tourer, depends what deal I could get.

Brand new 2.4 manual Tourer would be good if they want to shift leftovers and offer crazy deals!

The 2.4 tourer is a £30k, thats pushing it a bit for an Accord. Maybe with 20% off £24k!

Not sure it's worth spending 24-30k on an end of line accord IMHO when a new similar sized car possibly with the new 280hp 2 litre turbo engine might be coming out soon.

Guess it depends whether you simply want a bargain Accord and are happy to keep it for a few years. Can imagine the depreciation on it even with a hefty discount will be high if some fangled new indirect replacement comes out with a powerful but frugal engine as has been described.

I wonder if Honda will ever launch Acura in the UK. A quick look on acura.com shows a nice range of cars. Infiniti and Lexus find buyers here.

I'm surprised how little input this post has had. Our model has ended in UK after almost 40 years!
