Hi all.

Currently have a 1999 accord 1.8 vtec sport hatch.

The current bumpers are a bit scuffed from the previous owner and I like the facelift bumpers with the little spat/lips moulded into them and no bump strips

Just wondering if its a straight swap hatchback to hatchback?

Cheers Steve

Yep straight swap, however if your sport has the bolt on lips, you will have to modify them in order to fit facelift bumpers.

You will also need a facelift grill too btw, as the pre-facelift grill will not sit right against a facelift bumper when the bonnet is closed.

Cheers bud, current a 1.8 SE and I know the facelift bumpers have small mouldings and they drop down a bit lower :)

Welcome along mate.

Cheers guys.

Another quick question

When i lowered my old car i had to worry about a panhard rod over a certisan drop to align the wheels.

If i drop the accord 40mm do i need to change anything else? i know its usually suggestion to put new shocks on but apart from that do i need to change anything other than the springs?

Cheers Steve

Hello

speaking from experience a 40mm drop on springs only is usually all you need. If you are serious about handling and not just looks then a full damper and spring setup is advised. However for a nice look and ok handling springs are good

Welcome to the site

Brilliant thanks TypeR. So I don't need to change anything other than the springs :)

Ill get a few pics up and a new thread once I finish work,

Cars done 76k and its getting its water pump abnd timing belt kit fitted tomorrow :)

yes that's a must mate. With Hondas always make sure the timing belt, where applicable, is changed regularly. I had an EJ6 civic coupe and I didn't know the history on the belt. I got it done for the sake of it but just put ease on my mind that it was done.

Cars back with new timing belt, tensioners and water pump :)

Now I can look to modding it haha

Plan is 30mm springs on the 16" sport alloys, anyone know how this looks? I don't want too much arch gap haha.

Another question I have is the bump strips on the side down the doors, if I remove them are the glued on or is there holes in the door?

Cheers Steve :)

30mm would be as far as you would want to go really. Anymore and you'll start compromising the practicality.

As for the strips, they leave behind square holes when removed, so are best either colour coded (if not already) or left alone.

I would say go for 17" instead of 16" and with the lowering it will look very similar to this one:

Theres one kicking about on here, not sure whos it is but imo its perfect. black on black 16" Honda alloys :)

Where can I start up a little blog so I can ask more questions and put in little updates? :)
