What's new

Is my car too expensive?

I've always bought and sold cars on the side and December is a bad month
Just bought a jazz marked up at 2495 for 1500
And a seat sport marked at 2400 for 1000
Smaller dealers looking to shift cars in demember to renew stock January and main dealers will always give good deals this time of year.
Accords though in my view are difficult to sell anyway and generally you'll get a better deal with part ex if that's possible
7th gen were easier than 8th

That's the problem, I won't be part ex'ing unless it's a mk1 £1000 Focus or similar, there aren't many garages that would do that. I have an S2000 as my other car and I'll be working 5 miles from home after Christmas, the Accord will be completely redundant. Plus I'm in the middle of buying a house so the extra funds will be a great help.

WBAC are quoting £5250 and I imagine they'll try and knock a fair few hundred of that as well, seems almost criminal.

In your sistuation depending on how quickly you need to sell I'd get it in the likes of eBay , gumtree and local add with a view to running these through into next year if necessary.
I'd also ask a Honda dealer as I've sold Hondas direct to dealers before.
I made quite a bit on an 7th gen type s in 09
They'd possibly give more than WBA
I put mine through WBAC a few months back and like yourself nearly fell off my chair with the price that came back

I'll call my local dealer and see what they say. I'll also try to find a Focus at a car supermarket type place and see what they quote. I'm working in Watford for the first 3 months of next year, the Accord would be much better getting there and back compared to my S2000 so I'm not in a huge rush, but I'd prefer the cash to help with the new home.

I've dropped it a bit to generate some more interest. It's now almost £1000 cheaper than the closest example.

Based on what?

It's the cheapest sub 90k miles car on Autotrader.
Are most of the others on with dealers? Sad to say, but buyers will happily shovel more money at a dealer.

The dealer cars start at around £7600 or so.

I've dropped it to £6650 for now, will see what happens.

I figured 10% cheaper than a dealer should be enough.

You need to detail the ad more, talk more on the service history, is it main dealer or not. Also mention the amount of owners. Things like that is what will sell this car faster

Like Impne said earlier, December is just an awful month for selling cars as 99% of people are likely to be focusing their finances on Christmas.

And as much as I love Accords, they are pretty niche cars which can affect their saleability.

I think it'll either be a case of giving it away silly cheap if you want it gone ASAP, or just playing the waiting game for the right buyer at your current price imo. Someone will buy it though :)

As someone already said, Accords are hard to shift. That's why Honda discontinued them. There can be huge differences between advertised prices and what people actually pay. A bird in the hand and all that..... Good luck anyway.

I bought mine about 18 months ago and I bought it for £6,800 with FSH and 50k on the clock - 08 ES GT (granted I did get a good deal)

Interesting to see all 6 Accord's that I test drove are still for sale. Some were tested over 2 months ago. A couple had some blemishes that might put a few people off but in general they were all solid and had FSH.

The one I went up to Scunthorpe to test drive and had road noise issues has been discounted at a main dealer by over £2000.

December is a bad time, hold out now until Jan.

Price seems reasonable for the mileage which isnt high for a diesel.

It is that time of year mate though good luck with the sale

Milano were are you based autotrader says 4 miles from me.
I may be interested but to be honest I'm after a EX GT

Have you tried Blade Honda? They may be interested as the mileage is sensible and its a diesel.

When I sold my last car they quoted me a good price for outright sale.

Between £5k and £6k. Good shout, may pay them a visit if I get time.
