As per the ***le guys, came round to changing my clutch this weekend not that it was slipping or on its way out - just had a hard clutch pedal which seems to be common on the CL7/CL9 and very annoying especially when I am driving around in newer cars on a regular basis which have nice soft/light clutch feel... bear in mind that I changed this clutch about 2/3 years ago with a Genuine Honda 3 Piece Clutch Kit, which at todays price your looking around £250+ VAT (without discount). Here are the pictures of what I removed: -

Now this clutch kit is one I bought from a Honda Dealer, made by LUK and also made right here in England! Should be good right?! Especially as Honda would use it!

Below is the one I got for £150 inc VAT from a local motor spares shop (mates rate), packaged in ADL/Blueprint and inside the box was another box with this: -

Now look at the difference, the one above from Blueprint has parts Made in Japan (where the 7th Gen is from, so more OEM I'm guessing!) more so the pressure plate even has the Honda logo stamped on it, the whole lot is made in Japan! Whereas from Honda dealers its Made in England, so which one is better???

More so the design is very different on the pressure plate too, could this be the cause of the hard clutch pedal on a 2/3 year old clutch?! Due to a cheaper alternative by LUK... This is company of the clutch kit packaged in the Blueprint box: -

So guys, would you now go to Honda for 'genuine' parts/services? I know I will be thinking twice!

Very interesting findings Jav.. Let us know how you get on with it

Is it a remanufactured part perhaps? I only suggest that as it looks like there's some kind of wear pattern on the fingers of the release plate - the last clutch kit I bought didn't look like that (albeit for a different honda and a different brand of kit).

Interesting Jav. Suprised your clutch has got stiff so quickly. Let me know how you get on. Take plenty of pics

FCC are probably under license to manufacture the 7th gen clutch in Japan and therefore can produce their own version, still strange that they can supply one with the Honda stamp on it, I thought that would be a no no, also Honda have strict criteria when it comes to parts suppliers so hopefully that one has been produced to the same quality as the oem one.

Also what's also scary is the price difference if the FCC one is oem spec.

My mates 7th gen 2.0 I vtec had its clutch done around 3 years ago and there has been no issues other than the release bearing going dry and making a noise. Clutch feels solid. We got that kit from Honda also, believe it was HH and got a Honda specialist to fit it.

Do you think it could be down to incorrect fitting?
