Hi Folks,
I have a 2005 diesel Accord.
This problem has happened twice now (both times in Asda carpark, but anyway...).

When I try to start the car, the starter motor turns but the engine doesn't start.
Both times, I've tried starting it about 10 times, leaving gaps in between. Then one time, it'll start and then act as if nothing has ever happened.

Any ideas?
Is this a known issue?

Cheers!
Steve.

When it happens is the engine turning over?

Maybe the starter motor is turning but not engaging on to the flywheel???

If this is the case then you will have to remove the starter and free the throw gear(or what ever they call it).

When was it last serviced and was the fuel filter replaced? If so was it a genuine honda item?

Does it make a difference if the engine is warm or cold?

I used to get this when the engine was warm however I have found that by depressing the clutch the car starts first time, everytime!

As f6had says - when was fuel filter replaced?
+1

also check (after fuel filter):
- spark plugs/glow plugs
- air filter
- battery voltage

If they're ok check fuel/diesel pressure injections and injections
If they're ok i've got only one option left- high pressure fuel pump is dying.

Check spark plugs, EGR and throttle. These 3 usually cause starting problems.
