Dear All,

I own a 2006, Tourer, CDTi with about 80k on the clock, bought it in 2009. I plan to keep it for a good few more years yet.

The Milano red paintwork has turned pinkish, in some places. How do I fully restore it without respraying, tried T-Cut, but does not touch it.

It would be good to hear from owners who have successfully restored their paintwork.

Many thanks

A respray is your only option. Milano red is a tricoat paint and the top clearcoat has failed to provide enough UV protection to the red basecoat. So you'd need to polish through both the clearcoat and the purple tinted midcoat to then cut the faded red basecoat. Milano pink is inevitable if parked in sunshine and not regularly waxed/protected.

There's a sticky post http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/3287-honda-milano-red-fading/ about the problem.

Hi Doug,

It needs machine polishing to cut off the faded paint, then protecting with a good sealant with UV protection to stop it fading again.

Machine polisher and equipment will set you back about £100. See here http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-dual-action-polisher/cat_71.html

Maybe consider getting a pro valeter to do it for you, get some contacts and quotes here:
