Hi all,
I've replaced the discs on the rear axle on my Accord Tourer.
Once everything was of I found that the brake disc shields on both sides had rusted away, the entire shield was just barely staying in place by a few inches of metal left.
I didn't have new shields at hand so I cleaned and removed some rust that was in the way, mounted the new discs and put everything back in order.
But now there is a scratching sound when I turn, it seems that the new disks are grinding against the rusted shields.
The disc and the shield are designed so they enclose the entire handbrake ***embly and protects it from water etc.
I was shocked when I found the price for two new shields from the dealer, even with my discount (I used to work for Honda Nordic). Seems that the entire handbrake ***embly mounts on the shield itself, that's why it's so damn expensive.
And I can not find any after market shields either.
Can I cut away the shields and just keep the mounting? Or will that cause the handbrake to seize due to rust?
Regards
P-H
I have pictures of the rusted shields, it's not pretty, will put them up here ASAP.
Sorry for any bad english.
