Right, I am at the point of clicking 'buy now' on the new alloys.

I am still struggling to decide whether to go 18 or 19's.

Anyone got any real world experiences with 19s? Are they 1 inch too far for our roads? Handing / Tyre wear issues?

For the moment they will be on stock EX suspension, likely to be lowered in the near future but only using lowering spings possibly with new shocks. Not planning on the whole adjustable kit etc.

Would be interested to know if anyone has bought 19s and then changed to 18's??

Decisions, decisions.......

I'm running 18" with Aspec suspension and the ride is quite hard but great in corners.
With my set up 19" would be far to hard of a ride IMO

I'm running 19's with 35 profile tyres on my SAAB and 20's on my new Audi A6.. No real issue on either really. Yes it's firm but not uncomfortable.

Oh b*******s well that doesn't help :)

Was hoping for a definite " don't bother with 19 as they will ruin everything"

Jeeez.....I didn't take this long choosing my last house!

My brother has 19 inch Honda Rage alloys on his euro R with Tein springs and it's absolutely fine.

I ran the same rims with the A spec suspension on my diesel and even with a full load the car was fine.

It's more about ensuring correct offset and tyre size with decent suspension.

The biggest degradation to ride quality is moving from 16 to 17 (on the 7th gen). After that the difference between ride quality on a 45 profile tyre (17 inch rims) and 35 profile (19 inch rims) actually isn't that big..

Bear in mind the 8th gen wears different tyre sizes to the 7th

Hmmm....interesting.

Brett, what does the A Spec suspension consist of? Am I right in thinking this is an OEM setup?

It does appear that going to 19 throws out all of the 'standard' upsizing dimensions e.e 17 to 18 you can still have the same overall diameter etc but with 19, no matter what tyre you put on, the dimensions are not within the 'standard' range.

I guess that's where fun starts!

Yes mate it is OEM set up from Honda.
It's not a huge drop only about 15mm but the 8th gen is a lot lower on stock than the 7 th gen.
As for 19" wheels I think it's down to personal toast and comfort.
I have 18" and it's a good set up for performance with not compromised the ride to much.

I know user impne (Lee) is running 19 inch Rage rims on his 8th gen Type S. Have a chat with him

No problems here. Type S with 19's. Bit crashy on minor roads but certainly not enough to be bothered about.

That's a cool looking Accord, dude.

Cheers for the pic Mark.

What offset are they? Standard Type S suspension set up?

Again, anyone know if the Type S suspension is any different to the EX?

Standard Type S suspension, which I think it's a bit lower than the standard models but not sure. Offset is 55mm but they are genuine Honda wheels as I had trouble finding wheels to suit.

No issues with mine on 19's

Bit harsh but only as coilovers turned up quite a bit at the moment

Stock suspension will run tyres off and also if not set up correctly obviously on coilovers, I fitted adjustable rear arms to avoid bad tyre wear on rear

Still my favourite 8th gen that Lee

They are std rage alloys and offset is the same as std type s alloys, sorry I can't remember what that is now.
Even though the same offset they don't clear the front callipers so needed a 2mm spacer on the front and also fitted hubcentric spacers on the rear as these alloys say quite far into the arch

Yep that's because they're ET55 designed for the previous generation and 8th gen civic.

8th gen Accord rims are ET50 so 5mm wider on the track which is why you needed a spacer.

I thought Accord standard was et55 to, or at least that's what I have found.

ET 42 on 19 X 8.5 fit OK you think.?

Decision made!!!

Went for 18,s in the end. Slight compromise on size in favour of potential comfort. But in a style that looks 'large' if that makes sense.

Pics will follow after I get them fitted tomorrow. Then we'll see about a slight drop :)

I found when changing to goodyear efficient grip tyres the car soaked up the rough bumps and me the ride really smooth. This was on 17" but I think they'd have the same effect on your 18"
