Hello guys, i just bought my accord, and after few week i started to search where are cracks and squeeks are coming from. So here is the video, do you have the same problems, how do you fix them?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDmqKa5PboY
1: it is possible to fix that silver rattling small thingy which is on top of cup holders? (0:10 sec in the video)
2: it is possible to fix that handbrake lever which is sliding. When it slides all the way out it is impossible to disengage the hand brake, you have to slide it back all the way (as it should be), then you can push the button and disengage it. (0:23 sec in the video)
3: it is possible to fix that loose handbrake, as you can see, it is very rattly loose first few clicks. Hand brake is engaged to the end holds my car very good. But it is very annoying that lever is very loose at the starting point. (0:35 sec in the video)
4: Can you guide me, how to take apart the center console (show the screes or holding brakets), to change gear stick leather gaiter (1:15 sec in the video), where to start and begin with? As you can see in the video all the trims is kinda loose, i would like to fix that

Looks like a gorilla owned it before you got it, if from a Honda dealer take it back, or wear ear plugs, and carry two blocks of wood to place in front of wheels when parking, I think they called them "chocks" in aircraft circles.

No, i do not have any of that issues. Handbrake - are pads releasing at all? Check your rear disks after a journey, i think they will be red and hot or just tighten it, under midle console. Or give a rear calipers a good review it's sticking at some point not realeasing pads from disc. Everything is fixable. Good luck.

Rear calipers are prone to seize I replaced both my rear calipers from http://brakeparts.co.uk/
If you pm I will send you manual on centre console removal.

Hi Julius,

I have been to Vilnius - a city full of classy women!!

Anyway:

See my posting under 8th generation 'faults' - "beaten by the handbrake", it tells you how to remove the gear knob and leather gaiter and also the centre of the console area, also how to adjust your handbrake cable from within - it might help.

I suppose the handbrake lever sheath is a broken clip of some-sort? I would investigate the possibility of gluing it in place - there are plenty of adhesives that would do the job - just a small amount in the right place would do it.

Regards, Terry

I didin't find your post or thread. :(
EDIT: found it in DIY section :)

My rear disk brakes are in perfect condition and rear brake pads are also full of meat. Also my handbrake is fully working if i crank it all up the way. The problems is a minor, is very loose :)

And yes, our women are classy :D Thanks.

your car is a tourer I think, so it has DIH (Drum In Hat) parking brake ?

if so then the parking brake is nothing to do with the pads on the disc section, so there may be a fault with one or both shoe mechanisms inside the drum section

To inspect the parking brake, best thing is to remove the "top-hat" disc/drum

You might need an impact driver to remove the set-screws on the drum (red arrows)

when you've got them out, if the drum/disc won't budge, get some bolts in the other holes and see if the drum starts to pull away

SANY0005%252520%252528Medium%252529.JPG

if the drum/disc does not pull away easily, stop, remove the rubber bung, and slacken the small star-cog through the hole

SANY0007%252520%252528Medium%252529.JPG

this is what the star-cog looks like with drum removed

You will now be able to check the condition of everything, get an ***istant to pull the handbrake lever

Alternatively, and anyway when you put the drums back, remove the centre console to get to the adjuster nut on the handbrake lever and slacken it off

Then use the star-cog on each wheel to adjust the shoes until they are almost rubbing on the drum, then tighten the adjuster nut on the handbrake lever until the slack has gone from the cables.

Okay guys, i just manage to solve almost all my problems which i mentioned in my first post:

1: fix is coming soon. Manage to tear apart all interior trim
2: To fix your sliding hand brake level - firstly you should took it apart. Remove dash trim around gear stick, cup holder housing and handbrake cover. This one:

then engage handbrake all the way up, and try to slide off outer shell. It should came off with the button on the end. When your handbrake is naked, grab some wiring tape and roll about two layers on the handle. And then, take the outer shell and slide back it on the naked handbrake, not actual pic, but for the reference

.
Slide it with the force, and now it should stay still. Lastly do not forget a button, which is for disengaging the hand brake.

3: The loose hand brake is just a simple lack of adjustment. Overall in accord is very simple handbrake system. In drums, you can only minor adjust the brake shoes, and in the center console you can adjust major movement of the handbrake lever. So the problem for loose handbrake is a lack of major adjustment. I manage to adjust it without tearing apart all the console. I have to take out USB, AUX and 12 volt socket ***embly away and the clearance is much better. Also you should need get a big patient when with 12mm socket wrench. It is best to use one of these: http://www.pablon.co.uk/ekmps/shops/pablon/images/britool-e113304b-ratchet-combination-wrench-12mm-232-p.jpg. It will perform much better due to lack of space and lack of torque. And that's it, adjust till the handbrake lever is for your preferences. Also thanks for the guide FreddoFrog.
4: To take off leather gaiter: first take off the plastic trim around your shift stick, then under it, disconnect seat heaters connectors and unscrew 4 Philips screws which are holding a leather gaiter. Near the end of stick shift under gaiter, you can see a white plastic strap, which holds a leather gaiter with plastic ring together, remove that cable tie, the disconnect that plastic ring from gear knob itself. The OEM gear nob is screw-able, to unscrew it, turn it counter clock wise. That's it.

Hi

Ref. item 1:
Mask off the area around the silver bar but leave a very small gap. I used some lacquer from a touch up Honda paint set and used a fine point artist brush and run some lacquer into the gap. Remover the masking tape before the lacquer dries and remove any lacquer which may have seeped under with a damp lint free cloth. Honda paint is water based.
