Hi guys :)

Does anybody tried the SMF kit from Competition Clutch on the Accord?
This kit is is selling on TDI north and H tune for the Civics but they fit on the Accord so just want to know the feeling of this clutch in everyday use

Thanks in advance

Horrible. I've had a few customers use them and they always regret it. You will lose the smoothness of your engine and ultimately add stress to the drivetrain that would have otherwise been absorbed by the dual mass flywheel.

I readed many threads on civic info about that kit and the feedback is very mixed... There are many people who likes it and many of them does not like it so this is why i asked if on the Accord is the same story.
About smoothness and stress you can't avoid this vith an SMF but i'm realy in dubt about this DMF.
Many people have problems with them and other not even remaped and as you know the DMF is not a cheap joke.
Fahad can you please be more detailed with the symptoms detected?

There is no endemic problem or widespread failures of the dual mass flywheel on the Honda ICTDI.

The issue is with the failing clutch but most garages will say the flywheel should also be done and end up changing it without actually checking if it's operating within tolerance.

Yes some dmf have failed but in my view that is normal wear and tear and consistent with high miles or a hard life, or over tuning.

I can't give you detailed feedback on the smf but in the test drives I've been in and conversations with customers, there is a noticeable loss of engine smoothness, snatchy takeoff and general increase in sound from the engine/drivetrain.

My DMF now is on his way out and i can detect the sound when the clutch is pressed ( little rattle ) but i'm not surprised because the kilometers have done (230.000km ) but anyway i must change it.
The only reason i i'm considering the SMF kit is because i have a wish to put a hybrid turbo in the future on the car so there will be a a huge difference in torque and horsepower but from the other side is better to have the stage 2 and maintain the daily driving feel with the DMF and some upgraded clutch kit from CG.
Did you had a chanse to try the CG stage 2 Carbon KEV-TEK on the i-CTDi?

P.s.
I know that is not reccomended for diesel engines

I'm sorry mate I'm not sure what else you want me to say...

I'm not familiar with all their products I'm afraid. The discussion was about flywheel conversions, and I stand by my view that single mass conversions are a bad idea on this engine.

I understand that...i'm asking about the clutch because as mentioned before, from the other side i would like to have a normal car for dd, and stay on stage 2 setup and forget about the hybrid turbo setup so just want to figure out what is the best option to go.
With the SMF will be created vibration and stress, with a dual friction from CG is detected some drawback's so i'm considering a KEV-TEK the way to go but just want to hear someone experience with this clutch

They were doing Kevlar clutches a while back so I'm not sure if this is a new product or not. If it's the same one then i recall there were some failures of the lining coming away from disc but this is going back a few years.

In any case the issue with these cars isn't really the friction disc it's the weak pressure plate springs so having a Kevlar lined plate wouldn't solve the main underlying issue with these cars.

From what i readed on the forums, stage 1 , stage 2 , and dual friction have all the same preasure plate but they don't sell only the preasure plate so buying the kit is a must.
I thing that i will take that risk and try the KEV-TEK with the DMF and an gentle torque curve to see what happens.
I know that many users have tested the dual friction but i realy don't want that drawbacks
