Hi everyone,

Need some advice following a botched clutch and dmf replacement on a honda accord 2.2 diesel.

Went to a normal garage to get the repair done as Honda in Weston Super Mare quoted me £1650 for the clutch and dmf!!!.

Anyway, got the car back and the engine management light is on, the speedometer and cruise control no longer work and i think the exhaust is blowing cos i can smell fumes in the cab. The manifold was replaced by honda 2 years ago because it was cracked so it cant be that again.

Also the power delivery is jerky, any ideas as to what these cowboys have done, the car is more or less worthless now....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

cheers

Sorry to hear this,
Clutch and dmf on a i-ctdi is not easy and ideally should be given to a trusted garage as i have heard so many horror stories.

They may not have preloaded the dmf properly when they installed it, I think you need a special tool to do this.
Hopefully some of the guys should be able to shed more light.

Can you not go back to the garage to rectify the issues?

Sounds like it's not been put back together properly. First point of call is take it back imo and get them to fix it?

Even when it does run right your not sure they have installed the clutch properly.

Can you take it back?

+1, sounds like one or two sensors and the exhaust haven't gone back on properly and need sorting - but if the clutch itself feels okay that's the main thing.

Get a diagnostic but possible that the error is related to missing speed sensor signal.

Exhaust down pipe will have been disconnected and not reconnected properly.. and jerkiness could be damaged or incorrectly connected turbo solenoid pipes.

It's likely there many other things missed if this is the standard of their work. Take it back, if they can't fix it.. get a refund and find someone more competent.

Hi,I had a similar problem after asking a well known garage to replace my gearbox oil. (I was feeling lazy).
To cut an extremely long story short the mechanic had removed the sensor for some reason but didn't realise that the was spacer That prevents the sensor from protruding into the gearbox had dropped into the pit.
When it came off the ramps it had all the symptoms that yours has.
I got the repair paid for.
Hope this helps.

Also, if anyone can recommend a garage/mechanic in the Weston Super Mare area skilled on these engines that would be great

cheers

Not sure if relevant but when I had fumes in the cabin it was a split EGR pipe. I heard that this had been subject to an extended warranty repair due to a faulty supplier. Honda UK were excellent and replaced it FOC.
