So, it looks like the clutch is slipping
1. slips in high gear at motorway speeds
2. Rotational pulsing sound when I depress the clutch pedal in neutral. This sound dissappears when I release the pedal.

There is no other vibrational or knocking sound. The car is as sweet as a nut.

I'm going to get the clutch replaced, should I also replace the flywheel whilst I'm at it? Ideally I don't want the expense as money is a little tight.

The car has just done 136k, and is subject to a lot of short journeys and rush hour traffic. It's a 2006 ex cdti.

Any advice peeps?

If the flywheel is within tolerance of 3-36mm then no need to change. You'll only know when the gearbox comes off.

Just lock the flywheel on one full spin and add a marking, then spin it all the way round and add another marking at where it stops. Measure the gap with a ruler.

If it's less then 3mm or greater than 36mm the flywheel is shot as the springs are mullered.

Excellent. So if we measure 16.5mm then we should be fine as that's slap bang in the middle of the range yes?

it's not important to be slap bang in the middle, just as long as it's within the Honda specified tolerance.
