Hardwired dashcam not turning off

Hi

I recently installed a nextbase 312gw in my Accord. I have hardwired it up to the internal fuse box in the position of the cigarette lighter so that it turns off once the ignition is turned off.

However here is my problem. When I turn the car off the camera continues to record. Also when the car is off and I plug in the dash cam, it turns on as somehow it manages to get power when i expect it to not. It seems like the cigarette lighter fuse positon keeps providing power even when the car is off.

To get around this I changed the hardwire and plugged it into the driver side window fuse as I know that the windows only work when the ignition is on. However the situation is the same with this position in the fuse box.

Any ideas why this is happening and ehat would be the best fuse to use for the hardwire?
Thanks

I think the windows are operable about 30sec after ignition is off or until open any door.
So better check voltage availability by multimeter or small 12V probe lamp before connect wires to the right place.
Bare in mind dash board cameras usually stop recording about 5-8sec after supply is off (there is build in battery inside).
Anyway I've connected my camera to cigarette lighter and it works OK.

I've wired the camera to the cigarette lighter using the cable that came with the camera and the camera does not stay on once the car is off. Is there any reason why it would do it when I have hardwired it to the internal fuse box? It does not make any sense

I can't say more then I said, but did you check how camera works with original cig. lighter adapter/cable?
Bare in mind there is 12 to 5V converter inside the adapter (in most cases, I don't know your camera). Don't connect direct 12V cable if camera works with 5V external supply.
If the camera doesn't stay on, check it's battery. At fully charged battery camera should work without external supply 10-45 min depends of the camera and battery condition.

The problem is that the camera DOES stay on when it should switch off (when the car switches off)

Sorted it.

I had it piggy backed onto a 20A fuse in the number 9 slot (cig lighter). Switched it to the number 10 slot which is a 7.5A and is apparently not used. Cam came on only when the car was switched on and turned off when ignition was turned off. Solid.

Dumb question: Getting a dash cam and it has a video out RCA. Is there any way i could feed this to my Navigation screen?

Try to use original cable because some cameras require special one (two of pins in plug are bridged)

Yes, it is possible. There is DIY guide here.
Or you can get a complete multimedia interface like this, which just plugs into the factory navi (a little bit expensive).
Other link I found for SKU7826.
