Hello everybody

Does any of you installed this thing?

I really want to change that awfully looking radio for something from this age :)

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281377380579

And this is the radio I have at the moment, hope this would be suitable for my car?

Any tips would be appreciated.

I have a petrol 2.0b automatic pre facelift accord.

Thanks

OK you have the non nav premium setup currently.

The ebay unit you linked, a few things to consider;
1- Depending on how that Chinese company has modelled the unit regarding it's dimensions, either on the OE nav unit or the OE unit you currently have, you may need to swap the upper vent panel if they have modelled the dimensions on the OE nav unit as there is a difference in front size between the OE nav and OE non nav.
2- The ebay unit you linked mentions a built in 4x45w power amplifier. All premium systems in the 2003-2007 Accord use a separate amplifier setup, so the OE premium unit 4ch output on the main power plug is LOW Line Level so if you plug a 4x45w output into the loom which still goes to the amp you will most probably fry it. Best way would be to use the RCA low line out from that Chinese unit to feed the 4ch input into the OE amp.
3- Climate controls; you will see in that Chinese unit the knobs 'D' and 'P' (Driver / Passenger) are setup for LHD, my OCD would not cope with this lol. Also will the display on this unit show the climate correctly......... always wonder about these things.

Always interesting to know peoples experiences on these Chinese units but most would say avoid them I reckon.

I did quite a bit of messing around when I converted my OE nav to OE non nav like what you have now as I hated the old crappy OE nav. Now I have a Pure DAB/BT setup feeding into the OE unit with an AUX in adapter, works ok but I plan in the future to install a single DIN fascia under the OE unit and put a proper single DIN DAB/BT/USB/Android/IPOD unit in and get that to feed the OE amp keeping the rest original.

Thank you so much for this thorough reply.
I wasn't to fond to buy it either so great to get your opinion on that
I guess I'll just buy a bluetooth thingy for it and maybe in future think of something better than that.

Would you have any advice on which adapter is the best to get best audio quality when streaming and be able to take calls as well. If it would work with steering wheel controls that would be a bonus.

Appreciate your help :)

Most use Xcarlink which most have good results. I have a Yatour jobby which after some use I found does lock up and needs a power reset although could be my USB stick confusing it causing this, yet to troubleshoot. GROM has been mentioned but I had bad experience with GROM myself. Pretty much all I have heard of is they work with steering wheel controls, my Yatour does and the GROM was supposed to (if it ever worked!) and the Xcarlink does too (but I have not used one myself)

Hey, I think it's going to have pretty much the same considerations as the other one you mentioned. Also noted this in your latest link;

"The screen will not show the A/C temp or any other info that were shown on the factory unit, and this unit only works on dual-zone climate control cars. It does not fit diesel version."

So for me it wouldn't interest, same reasons as before. If no climate display on the screen how will you know what climate mode you are in (which vents are in use, etc) and what the temp setting is? I doubt this supports the additional top panel display found in the OE Nav setup.

But hey once again if it's something you really want to do go for it and let us know you're feedback. If I had the money I would buy a few of these variants and test them out but that's an expensive route! and they are unlikely to send me samples to review.............

Thanks for that.

Didn't notice the part with no temp being displayed. Deal breaker.

Thank you for your input once again.
