As per ***le
Been reading quite a few posts but still a little confused with this

Car sat for a week ..starts fine etc.. before parking up .. finnished work got in car .. started and vsa light is on ....no abs lights. Drives fine

Cant turn on / off via button

Tried reset etc ... using brake ..then one wire in pin 9 ..

Ill go get the codes now ... maybe just needs a drive again . I dunno but now battery flat . ( left obd2 adapter in all night so that may be the culprit of the flat battery )

Codes cleared and wifes thrown away the paper i wrote them down on :/

Ok so pin 9 to ground

Brings up scs service DTC no

Followerd procedure to reset vsa using abs light ..vsa switch etc but nothing

Off to charge battery now

Any ideas ?

Thanks

If its just the VSA light on by itself then its very likely that the VSA module is knackered.

This is a very common problem on the 2003-2008 diesel 7th Gen Accords. I think the culprit is a faulty pressure sensor inside the module.
The module is made by bosch.
The fault code would be 66-1

Of course it may be another fault but the 66-1 is the most common one I have seen on this model of accord.

The car will drive fine and brake ok with no issues. The ABS system would be disabled though, so the wheels will lock up if any emergency braking is attempted, it would also fail an MOT.

The only fix is to get the refurbished, places linked below are the common places to get them refurbed but will involve the unit being removed from your car and being sent of for refurb

Hope this helps

With a 66-1, the ABS still functions, but the traction control doesn't.

Mine's been like it over a year now.
There's no requirement for traction control as part of the MOT test, however if it's disabled, the warning light also has to be disabled too.

The modules are the ATE mk60.

Interesting, I also thought the VSA indicator would disable ABS braking too since it uses the ABS principles to control the vehicle under a VSA trigger. Has anyone confirmed the anti lock function does indeed still operate when VSA is on and 66-1 is set? by confirmed I mean road tested in a safe environment? I read that 66-1 = Brake Pressure Sensor inside the modulator so if that was at fault then how can anti lock also still function? Interesting thoughts.........

Get honda hds and re calibrate first

I saw this on the Honest John website:

TSB Bulletin No SK-07-007-00 dated 01-11-2010
This is only applicable to i-CTDI engines.
Models Affected
ACCORD 4D CN1 05, 06, 07, 08
ACCORD TOURER CN2 05, 06, 07, 08
CIVIC 5D EV1 05
CR-V RD8 05, 06
CR-V I-CTDI RD9 05, 06
Symptom
VSA light on, DTC 66-1 is stored.
Cause
Open circuit in the VSA modulator pressure sensor due to a production fault at the supplier.
Application: Warranty extension +3 years; mileage up to 62,000 miles
Any high mileage car will not be entertained... So anyone now has suddenly seen this issue, please contact your dealer provided you are with the time frame and mileage.

If anyone has a broken one somewhere I'd be willing to take it apart and see if I can find/fix the 'open circuit'. If these are standard PCBs inside I may be able to but if they are gel filled aluminium welded links then I can't do those as specialist kit is needed.

Thanks for replys

I have an HDS unit and I'm in Snodland.
Don't have an old laptop anymore though (needs windows 95 or 98 or something, and a COM port, really can't remember)

Welcome to borrow it mate.

ScoobyDoo.

My accord has a 66-1 pressure sensor fault. (Has done for 13 months now)
Still has functioning ABS.

Dave, there are loads of videos on the net about how it works.
It's been a year or so since I used it, and the information's long since left my head - probably pushed out by inane cat videos.

If you struggle getting it set up, I'm sure I can help out.

Jump pins 4 and 9 with paper clip or similar. Clear codes first by turning ignition to position 2 then press brake pedal when abs light comes on. Release the pedal then press again when abs light returns. The abs light should blink twice and disappear
Now turn off and attempt vsa reset by turning back to position 2 press vsa button once as soon as vsa light come on (within 0.5 seconds) the light should go then re-appear as soon as it does press the vsa button immediately (again within 0.5 secs) if it's worked all three lights should blink twice I think then disappear - hopefully for good!
Did this for a workmate on a 2.0 petrol accord a few nights back, so far so good

Edit: should mention his car had the 84-1 vsa reset required error

The unit in the diesel's is different, but could be worth a shot.

Must've felt like McGuyver repairing a car with just a paperclip. :D

Paperclip....tried with a bit of earth cable :)

Only managed to get the exclamation mark next to vsa light to flash once...no dtc ... vsa still there

mcguyver pmsl!!
As above the diesel vsa system appears to be a different beast. It was worth a shot

All sorted

Vsa unit from a guy in ashford breaking a 2007 accord tourer £25 ;)

Thanks to honda_saj for coming over today and goodluckmonkey for being on hand if needed ;)

Fantastic news Daveg. Did the replacement need programming or anything? Or was it just a drop in and replace?

I always thought they needed programming or your original one needed to be used so had to be refurbed.

Great to hear you got a good part for little money.

When i bought one off ebay, I spent a lot more and received a faulty unit which it then had to send back.

Meant I'd done the swap twice just to end up with the original faulty unit back in place so i could use my car.

Gave it up as a bad idea and just live without it now.

I'm not sure where Dave has disappeared to so will answer as I was there to ***ist replacement unit worked straight away, I managed to clear dtc errors, I recommend a neutral vsa procedure is carried out after replacement unit is fitted

In all fairness the vsa was a straight swap and light extinguised straight away :)

Though thanks to honda_saj he also made sure no codes were there and performed a full diagnostic

Before we fit the vsa ( incase the error could be solved without replacement )
And after
