Hi Everyone,

A few months ago I picked up a really nice 1999 Honda Accord, 3.0 V6 model with around 100k on the clock. It has been brilliant to drive.

However, I now need to source a new exhaust (specifically, the back box on the driver's side). As I'm intending to keep the car, I'm wondering about replacing the whole exhaust whilst I'm at it.

So, my question is whether you would either:

1. Try and source an original Honda back box and, if so, from where? or,
2. Put a whole new original Honda exhaust system on (would Honda be able to supply this?), or
3. Look at aftermarket options and, if so, what you recommend. For example, I found this on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Accord-1998-3L-Magnaflow-Performance-Cat-Back-Exhaus-15640-/262718786064?hash=item3d2b428a10

Would that be any good or would it be really noisy?

Any other options or opinions welcomed!

Thanks everyone,

Jonathan

Worth a call to the Parts Department at Holdcroft Honda in Stoke before you make your decision - they'll know whether OEM can still be sourced or not.

Stuart Graham in Crewe could get me the back box as a special order from the states for £189. Thinking about whether it would be worth just getting the whole lot done by a specialist here. As other bits will inevitably go, and I like the car, might be worth investing the £££ to get it right now. What do you reckon?

Powerflow Exhausts (there is a branch near me in Crewe) were recommended by a neighbour.

I've had two power flow exhausts on cars in the past and both were very good. Quality will vary between fitters though

I would recommend custom made, it will be cheaper too and get everything to spec and maybe choose one with a nice raspy sound to open up the V6.

I have a few links if you are still looking powerflow are ok but not full true custom exhaust they use bends and attachments

I purchased several mid-sections for the Accord V6 from Holdcroft at a great price, highly recommended and I imported the 3.2 Acura CL bosal silencers, less visible and a lovely sound. Also, there's a good place in Walsall and did a great system for a Honda 6 members coupe and other Honda's, but might be a bit of a treck
