Unwelcome find. Lower bell housing fastener.

When I changed the manifold I worked under the car with the car on ramps, and didn't notice this. But when I put the car on jack stands to change the oil here must have been a slight bending force on the motor / transaxle unit. And this popped up.

It looks like someone has glued this back on, and the glue is now getting weak. I braced it with a temporary structure, and hope to come up with a solution of having the broken piece TIG welded back on, and turning this into a through-hole bolt / nut arrangement.

I should probably crack check the other mounts as I suspect this is a leftover from some sort of crash (the previous owner told me the car never had... but the car has had 3 owners..)

Anyone had seen or fixed anything similar?

Probably damaged when the box has been out in the past for a new clutch.

Someone would need to have dropped the gearbox or have forgotten a bolt and gone renegade with a pry bar to do that.

That's probably what happened then. On second thought I won't weld it straight away. I'll epoxy a brace in there so the borked piece is held in there as a spacer, and spot face the area to give a custom bolt and nut enough of a squeeze hold.
