Midway installing a Xcarlink into 7th Gen Accord with Radio & Premium Sound System 6 CD Changer.

Removed the gear lever surround, ashtray & lower storage fasica. This is where im confused, the videos i have seen, people are removing the entire stereo unit by removing the top storge unit & the top of the dash to completely pull the stereo system out. However I can see a vacant white socket at the bottom of the stereo & I have managed to plug in the Xcarlink by feeding the wire behind the top upper storage box, which sits just above the ashtray, without the need to remove the 2 10mm bolts. Its plugged in and lights up. Im about to attach my phone to the 3.5mm jack alomng with some music from an SD card to see if it all works. Have i connected it to the right connection point? Also I believe there is a program I can install on an SD card so that I can use the 6 CDs as folders, can anyone help point me to where I can get the program.

Somehow it seems the access was too easy and I may have plugged in the wrong place altogether

There is a links to the pictures here https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0riC4r9eucjWWxBazZ0bWZqYUU

The first pic shows the white connector on the right which was vacant where ive plugged in the xcarlink, the second shows where i have fed it from behind teh storage unit and the third is where the front fascia panel came apart when taking it out, although im convinced someone has previously attempted this as i didnt use that much force, so i need to figure a way to bond it back

I think the whole thing has to come forward on the nav model. The non-nav version (what I had) is more accessible.

I used mine via USB memory sick rather than SD card, but I imagine it's the same. You don't need any software. Just put folders on your SD card. It's a while since I had mine, so can't really remember the numbers, but you can have something like up to 14 or 16 folders each containing up to 99 tracks. You have to name the folders CD01, CD02 (or something) to be visible (it's covered in another xcarlink thread I'm sure, but I can't put my finger on it). You select boot changer as the input source (the head unit 6 CD changer still works as before).

I could never figure out the play order (not really an issue, but puzzling) as it didn't seem to play by alphabetic order, date, size, MP3 tag or anything else I could get to the bottom of.

Thanks Matt, all makes sense now. I was going to leave the xcarlink unit exposed, which means taking out a storage tray at the back to let the connector through, but as the xcarlink will remain permanently sticky taped in front of it really won't be exposed.
