Hey all,

Random question, when driving along, if I pull my handbrake on gently (or at all) I get a really loud bang noise from the rear which is, I ***ume, the pads moving in the calliper.

My question is should I get this massive sound? Non of my other cars do this, only the tourer. My old 2.0 6th or ATR didn't either, so it's not that it's a regular Honda feature.

Please help, cheers,

Si.

How loud is loud? I'll get a knock noise if I pop the hand brake on when not completely stopped.

Loud enough for me to take notice, and I can feel a little knock through the seat. I'm wondering if it's related to my 'bearing' sound.

So thought I'd ask to see if anyone else's does it too.

Mine'll do it if I pull the handbrake going backwards. The nearside handbrake ***embly on mine has a little float about.
Not an issue though. Handbrake works well, and its been through two mot's since I've had it without problem.

However if everything is like it should be, you should get any bang from the brakes.
Don't do it is not a solution... Don't get me wrong but guys... We are talking about the BRAKES!! so in my opinion it's a smart decision if you check them and solve this

I thought only the the wagon has the drum park brake, and sedans have the combined caliper?

Thanks for all the replies peeps, I can't check the brake set up at the moment as my vans off the road so I'm using my car as my work van, (thank fook I bought a tourer lol).

I imagine the sound is the pads moving inside the drum at the rear. That would also explain the noise that I thought was a bearing.

I jacked the car up on the rear and there is no movement of the wheel, so that also goes against my rubbing noise being a bearing.
