Hi Everyone,

I have a 2004 icdti with all those miles on the clock.Believe when i say i love this car but time waits for no car and it's now due a change.

Please all advise if you can -

I'm considering a 2013/14 petrol this time around.Diesel is just far too much hassle.So.... because i drive a cab here in Dublin I will obviously expect this car to deliver a lot of miles in it's time with me.with that in mind can anyone out there please advise if there are any major issues with the engine on the petrol version.I had to get timing chain done on my diesel which was a real pain so i'm looking to avoid, or at least know in advance about the issues with the petrol.

Also can anyone give a guesstimate of how many miles the clutch should last please on the petrol.

Any other faults/issues which are common with them ? please feel free to flag.I'm aware no car is without issues over time but I'd just like to know in advance if i could

thanks in advance guys :)

Honda petrol engines are about as reliable as they come as long as you adhere to regular and correct servicing. Not sure about the 2.0 but 2.4's tend to need a clutch around the 80k mark. All cars with timing chains will eventually require a swap out as chains can stretch, guides wear out etc. I can't think of any niggles with the petrols off the top of my head other than keep an eye on oil consumption, not a fault as such but some vtec's can burn up a bit of oil

Sounds good Andy - thanks.

I was hoping I'd hear this.I get it with oil etc. - no problem with keeping the car in shape with the right stuff.

Anyone out there with high milers heard any reports regarding -

Link arms/ball joints/shocks and steering rack
Electrics
Pumps/alternator

I expect things to wear out as per usual I'm just wondering about the frequency

Thanks again folks

If you'd rather, I can move this thread over to the 8th gen section? It's better to move threads than have duplicates, otherwise we end up having a multitude of the same conversations and things get a bit messy and confusing.

Ok, I'll move it over to the 8th gen section. :)
