Hello all,

I'm looking to buy my first Accord. I have the option of a 2002 2.0 SE Executive or 2002 2.3 Type-V, both around 110k mileage.

I'm new to Accords so have a couple of questions.

1) Parkers makes it seem like the performance and fuel efficiency of the two engines is similar. Is that the case in real life?
2) Is the 2.3 a VTEC?
3) Which is the higher spec of the two cars?

Any general observations comparing the two models would be much appreciated!

Regards,
Laurence.

Performance is generally similar, the 2.0 is more revvy, 2.3 lazier but has bit more power & torque being bigger block. The Type V was the top spec version and has more kit and somethings are uprated, nicer leather and I think the suspension maybe softer.

My grandfather had a type V 6th gen years ago. Lovely car.

Loads nicer inside than my 7th Gen EX.

Had a look around a type v being semi interested a while back. It felt very posh inside, leather is of better quality, it was slightly more quiet and pulled up hills better with more low down poke. At the top end my 2.0 felt more eager but needs to be worked more lower down. The 2.3 is the better alround engine. Interestly though, my exec revs lower at motorway speeds.

It wasn't much better than my exec to fork out the extra cash, but if I had to pick one if I didn't already own an accord it would be the type v.

Both cars have similar spec but the type v has softer suspension, tad more sound insulation and trinkets such as chrome door handles, white dials, nicer alloys, etc. Both nice cars in their own ways.
