Ok so I've recently purchased a 2001 1.8I vtech s and seem to have a whiny gearbox more so in reverse.
Would a change of fluid cure it and if so how much and what grade?

Reverse will whine anyway as it's a straight cut gear.

Your whiney gearbox and my kids should get together and combine their powers.

Ok so today I'm not sure if it's me but the whine sounds louder and maybe engine bay related.
How can I post up a video on here? YouTube?

yep, upload to youtube and post the link

I don't think that's related to gearbox because it's in neutral and varies with engine rpm, I don't know the layout in that engine bay but looks like it could be a pulley, someone who knows the 6th gen Accords should be able to help.

Would have said alternator, alternator pulley or power steering

I have been thinking the same as I watched a YouTube video of a merc and the noise was identical. It doesn't change when I turn the wheel. Is there anyway to check it's the alternator like maybe unplug it for a second while the engine is running?

take the belt off and spin each one of them by hand , something that noisy will not be silent when you spin it by hand

Aren't accords known for developing power steering pump whine?
