Seems my exhaust has cracked where the down pipe meets the centre pipe. Otherwise it's passed. Gotta get that looked at this week. Dropping it back in where I got the exhaust made a few years back. Hopefully they can just sort that section it's not too much £££ . Trying to save my cash so I can get my coil overs fitted before JapFest.

Well, you'd think so based on what the guy at the garage told me, but if it was the flexi pipe, he'd have said flexi pipe, right? I'll enquire more when I go to pick the car up.

Is it a longlife system?

When I had one made a few years back, it was warrantied for 25 years provided I still owned the car.

I dunno... It was a custom made cat back at a small indie place in Hastings. The guy at the exhaust place was really nice though when I called him, very cheery, said to drop it in on Friday morning and they'll sort it out. I'll see how things are on Friday.

Oh, so its on the OE part anyway.
Suppose these things can't be expected to last forever.

Nope, turns our it's where it splits from one pipe to two. The exhaust shop should sort this without quibble as it's their exhaust that's failed after 4 years.

The y-joint at the rear where it goes off to the 2 silencers?

A fair bit of stress there as everything bounces around.

In other news it also failed on rear brake pads. I asked them to just sort it, but when they tried the calipers were both seized. So I need to sort out both rear calipers now too. Guess that explains the noise I thought was a worn bearing...

All together, the car's been feeling a bit sluggish and crap lately. Guess this explains it all.

Gonna go find the threads about seized brakes...

Yep, exactly! That's where my OEM exhaust failed originally.

The guy seemed very chilled on the phone. He was like "yeah, bring it, we'll sort it for you". He was a really nice guy. It's a small indie place that does lots of vintage cars. They fabricate most stuff in house. I got that nice, family business style customer service. Let's hope that continues through Friday.

Hope so.

A pity they don't do MOTs.......

Perhaps they do... although my MOT is free with Honda and they'll retest for free so it's all a question of what the cost works out to be. I'm kinda hoping the exhaust place is just gonna drop the exhaust, re-weld the problem area and put it back on without charge, seeing as it's an exhaust they designed and fitted for lots of money less than 4 years ago. So hopefully the whole exhaust issue should work out not costing. It's just the £300 odd I've just dropped on brake parts that kinda bites...

45 minutes with the exhaust shop and the crack is sorted. It was where the straight pipe meets the Y-Splitter. No charge. They're really nice in there and friendly in there. Remembered me from 4 years ago, which was nice. The car's note has changed slightly. Feels more defined, which I guess is linked specifically to the properly channeled air flow without gasses escaping early.

Great to hear.

Just gotta the rear brakes sorted now
