Car parked at airport for 2 weeks, drove home last night and burning smell from rear tyre, checked this morning, scrapes on rear disc, I suspect it's a sticky caliper, is there anyone in northwest can repair this with a kit?? Or do I need to replace with new?

Now I remember when they put the discs in the said one caliper was v hard to push back.

Garage has cleaned and freed it up today, see how long it lasts.

In my experience simply 'freeing off' a seized caliper provides a temporary solution only. Keep an eye on it!
Thanks Jon, completed 400 mile trip today and luckily no issues, no burning smells. But I'll keep an eye for pad wear or burn smell. Also noticed brakes were working more efficiently now, since one isn't pinned to the disc any longer.

great stuff thanks for update, rear calipers are common on these accords

I think it's best to replace with a refurbished one and get some money back from trading in your old one.

I have tried the rebuild method... didn't last longer.

Or - if you can manage for a few days without the car - send your worn calipers to Bigg Red and have them fully refurbished. So long as you don't want them painted the turnaround is impressively fast (they still get silver anodised anyway).

A few months ago they did one of my Toyota calipers, great job for £50 and were ready next day (I live near enough to visit their Worcester counter).

Do they paint then for you?
No, not in a one-day turnaround... I think that takes up to a week, as i believe they send them off to be done.

Nevertheless, despite me collecting it the next day, the caliper body had been electro-plated in the usual refurb'd caliper silver (which, as usual, has now mostly worn off and become dull).
