Hi folks,
I've got a 2006 facelift 2.4 exec auto saloon...recently I've noticed an annoying squeak when applying the brakes...sprayed the pedal pivot with WD40 and spray grease but still there...anyone had a similar problem and any suggestions fix ? many thanks in advance

The wife's new (to us) 54k mile FRV has an occasional squeak from the clutch pedal.

Was going to fix it, and she told me not to because it reminds her of her beloved civic, which also did it occasionally.

I'll never understand women.

To answer the question though;

Really need to pull the pivot and grease it if you can.
Molybdenum grease would be my choice if you have some.

Squirting it with WD or spray grease just doesn't get to where it needs to be.

Can also be the master cylinder but before that apply grease and heat gun see if that resolves

Cheers mate...I see the pedal mechanism under the dash and where it pushes against the rubber boot bellows that goes through the bulkhead (please excuse my ignorance of what this is...master cylinder ?)..where should I apply the grease and gentle heat to let it flow ? thanks again

If you do grease the master cylinder linkage, do use an appropriate grease! Conventional greases will damage the rubber parts by making them swell and split, use a silicon or ceramic type.

But I think that MC issues cause a click rather than a squeak?

Thank you..I do have silicon grease but unsure where exactly I should put it..ahem

Never done it, but people squirt it down the rod that links the clutch pedal to the cylinder and actually into the cylinder as far as you can. Best to use a syringe, as I've no idea how else you could get it all the way in.

I think a brake squeak is most likely to be coming from discs/pads - is it definitely coming from the pedal ?

definitely coming from the pedal box area...funnily enough I was just out with the car earlier and it didn't squeak...parked up, nipped into the shops..then when I drove away it came back..odd...its not a noisy squeak just an annoying one when you become aware of it...brakes all working fine

Yes you are correct mostly a click but can creak as well you need to ensure grease is o ring safe if applying to master cylinder linkage

I have a similar issue as well. But mine doesn't happen all the time. It's only after I drive my Accord for a while on B roads or similar that it starts to squeak. It sounds like my break pedal as well however I have a problem with my car where my driver side inner driveshaft rubber is squeaking when turning. I just need to apply some lithium (I think?) grease from what I was told and it should fix it as there are no tears or sips on the rubber. No idea if that has to do anything with it?
