Hi
Well... it seems I wasted my time buying new clips to secure the wheel arch splash covers, not only are they not a perfect fit, as I found out, but the body work is knakered, at least on the arches, and I dont have the facilities to try a DIY repair.
Does anyone know of a company in Peterborough that they can recommend to repair... the rust damage is pretty bad, part of the arch basically fell off when I removed the lining and rust.

Thanks in advance.

My driver's side rear arch is bulging somewhat, presumably due to rust forming behind it. But it hasn't burst through yet!

Does anyone know if it's possible to remove trim to get behind the arch, to spray/pour rust remover at the affected area?

I've got a sneaking suspicion that you can get to it from the inside, take a look at the two links to drawings in the other thread, under "panels"

Hi Jon
I removed the lining this morning thinking I can scrape off crap and rust, and clean it out to rubberize it after treating the rust, but apart from the new clips I bought not fitting properly, after I scraped the rust out, and flatted the metal edge, as it was bubbled and pushed out, it disintegrated on me, the actual paint must have been keeping it together.
It is now my belief after trying to get clips from two places, and researching, that you can only get the right clips from Honda themselves.

Hi Gary, that'd be the lining in the arch? Mine isn't as bad as your's (only bulging on the downward lip of the arch) so I wasn't going to disturb it from the outside. I'm hoping to go in through the load area somehow to get some sort of liquid treatment to run down onto the affected area to hopefully arrest the problem... if I can get things to stay as they are I'll be happy!

I hate fixing rusty bodywork, as soon as you start poking the problem gets far worse than you thought and then you spend hours during a job that always looks disappointing. Then the rust comes back again in a few months...
