What's new

please identify this cable

Unless it's used on a Honda satnav DVD, I don't think it's for connecting to anything OEM so it is weird, maybe someone else had a Jap video console in there and a Blu-ray or similar

well there was definitely some stuff gone in there before mine, all kinds of weird little taped up cables going god-knows-where

Ah yes, didn't see the second one!

Seems like it carries a high quality signal, have you any marks on the dash to indicate a monitor mount ? I've seen a few imports with them.

No idea what it's for but it's a video connector, Japanese D-terminal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-Terminal
It is a video connector, but a VESA type, (digital flat panel) and last century, obsolete unless you also have the displays that were supposed to be fitted.

There are adapters about to convert to newer standards but unless you have the video card or laptop at the sharp end it would be cheaper to replace.

makes one wonder where the other end is, and who put it in there
the other end was plugged in to the port underneath the stereo, i believe this is the aux port

On some models in Japan (which includes the Mk7) there was a drop down screen for the rear seats just behind the roof window.

It could be somebody has tried their own version running off an old laptop (usually Compaqs) sitting on the front seat or in the footwell.
