Xcarlink Non Sat Nav Version Install

Hi All,

Having recently put n Xcarlink on my Accord, thought I’d share.
There are many install guides already, but mostly for the Sat Nav version Gen 7 Accord.
I installed it on the Stock 6 CD changer Head Unit.

Works a treat.

Tools used.
Philips Screwdriver.
Car Dash trim remover.

Step 1: open the gear knob surround.
Use pry tool, you may want to use masking tape to cover the surround to protect it from scratches.
There are four clips marked in the picture, via circles.
Gently insert the pry tool and pop out, it may take time so be gentle to not break.
Once you have popped the surround, unclip the heated seats buttons from below.
You may also want to unscrew the knob for proper access.

Step 2: Ashtray removal
Remove the ashtray by simply pulling it out, after which using a Philips screw driver you remove the two screws holding it in. you will again need to use pry tool as it may also be clipped in on the front like mine. Once you have popped the cigarette lighter unit, unclip it at the back there are three plugs connected to it. After you unclipped it all there will be four more screws exposed, they all need to be removed.

Step 3: CD Player Trim Removal
Remove trim under the CD player. Use a pry tool again, it is held by clips at the top

Step 4: Plug in Module
You should now have access to the Port on the CD player to which to connect the Xcarlink.
I put the module in the glove compartment, but there is space on the side to leave it under the Cd player.

Thanks for update glad all sorted

I've bookmarked this ;)
(problem then is remembering where the bookmark is LOL)

edit: I'm presuming that it can also be plugged into the 6-CD changer on cars with satnav.

Hi I am not sure about that. Fink you would need Honda y cable for that. That will allow you to switch between the two. This gude is for non sat nav version.

^ ok, thanks for that, never bothered with xcarlink or anything similar, but now I'm beginning to think I might as well do it ;)

From when I did the install on our non satnav unit, I can confirm that a screwdriver and fingers to remove trim also works :D

Ours is an auto but the surround should be the same, open the ashtray and you have another grip with your fingers to pull the back of the trim up, Came out rather easy, but if you have the tools use it, I didn't have the tools.
