Hello,

Looking for some help if possible.

I've been having issues with my rear pads for a while, the car is a 2008 (early) CL7 2.2CTDI.

The pads i purchased have springs on them like these:

My question is, do the springs get compressed by the caliper?

Will this not make the pads to stick because the caliper will be forcing the pad against the rail they move along?

Or are they the wrong pads all together?

Every video i have watched has different pads, so please don't say 'there's loads of videos online' as there really isn't.

Thanks in advance for any help & advise

Sorry i should have said, it is a saloon. I think my problem my be that the dimple isn't sitting in the piston after closer inspection!

I think the springs don't actually touch the inside of the caliper, so i can't understand why they're there to begin with.

Thanks for the response

Unfortunately not, looks like previous owner may have cut the springs off which makes me think they're not the right ones

Whether the car is petrol or diesel it's very important whether it's a saloon or tourer

Those are saloon pads see here --> http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection?block_01=17SEA701&block_02=B__1910&block_03=3248&block_05=hcr

Tourer pads are very different --> http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection?block_01=17SED601&block_02=B__1910&block_03=845&block_05=hcr

Best rule for buying brake pads for these cars = not on eBay ;)

To find out which 3-letter acronym = your car , see this --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/19788-cl7cl8cl9cm1cm2cm3cn1cn2cu1cu2cu3cw1cw2cw3-etc/

Re-reading the above 2 posts, it's very possible that the previous owner fitted Tourer pads.

Note also that the rear caliper pistons on the saloon are wind-back (whereas rear caliper pistons on the Tourer are push-back)

This is interesting my cl7 and cl9 saloons use different rear pads.one with the spring and the other without
is the CL7 the euro R ? if it is and if the rear pads on it don't have springs, might be because it's euro R.
CL9 saloon rear pads should have springs though (unless non-stock calipers)

This might be a CN1, so the same as a CL9. Maybe the OP wrongly asked for CL7 rear pads?
Seems that all 7th gen saloons have the same part number for rear pads 43022SEAE10

It a 2008 CTDI 2.2 yes, was always under the impression that was the CL7? It's a saloon aswell.

Do i need any clips for the pads to glide along or do they just slide on the caliper itself?

Thanks for all the help on this guys., still cant understand the purpose of the springs though ha!

Cheers

Unfortunately Jon and I have Tourers so can't be certain, but from the drawing there are no other clips, but there should be some adhesive shims

drawing extracted from this link which lists the parts too --> http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection?block_01=17SEA701&block_02=B__1910&block_03=3248&block_05=hcr

Hi did you manage to put them pads on I think when using them pads with spring on you don't need them shims

The springs help keep the pad in place and eliminate pad knock when going forward and back. They keep the pad seated in the carrier. Over time the springs you mention bend so it's less force
