Hi Guys

After having sorted my engine faults out which I would not have been able to do without the invaluable help of a few of you, I have now turned my attention to the VSA light.

I would have added this to my previous thread but I thought it was getting a bit to long.

A while back I noticed that the VSA light was starting to flicker and now it is on full time together with the ***ociated warning light and the brake light for some reason.

I have done what has been suggested on here ie read the fault codes by shorting out 4 & 9 pins and I read off the following faults:

1-6 1-8 2-6 6-1 6-5 8-3 1-3

I have tried to look up all of them but don't seem to be able to find anything useful.

Can anyone let me know just exactly what these codes relate too.

A few months ago I did change the rear left wheel bearing and sensor so I am pretty sure it is not that.

Also I tried disconnecting the battery for 15-20 mins to clear the codes as suggested on this site but that did not work. Is there a specific way to do this so that I can start afresh.

Any help greatly appreciated as always.

Some of those codes could be historic. Best to delete them using the 'paperclip delete' technique, then see which code(s) return and so relate to the current problem.

Disconnecting the battery does not delete error codes, but does turn off the warning light(s) IF the fault has cleared.

Hi Guys

That was quick, I didn't expect anyone to get back to me so soon. Thanks

Lot of info to digest!!!

I will give it a go tomorrow and see how I go and let you know result.

I can't believe how many problems one way or the other I have had with this car starting with a 2.5yr fight with Honda to get the rear tracking sorted U/G in early days

Thanks again.

Hi guys

Sorry I have not got back to you but I buggered my shoulder up and have had to put the VSA problem including everything else on hold for a while.

I will get back to you when I am able too if I may.

Regards

Hi Guys

Sorry for the delay in getting back but I had to repair my shoulder first!!!!

As I said earlier, I have the ABS, VSA and the VSA Warning Triangle lights on.

I have carried out the procedure to do the ABS reset i.e No.s 1 to 6 and all went to plan.
Heard a click as if a solenoid was resetting and all three lights went of but ABS and ABS triangle comes back on.
Switch ingnition off and then back on, all lights once again on but with the ABS flashing the fault codes again.
Clearly haven't deleted the codes.

If I remove the link between 4 and 9 terminals and instead ground terminal 9 and switch on, ABS goes off VSA and VSA triangle stay on. I press the VSA switch quickly and ABS comes back on and I press VSA switch again the VSA triangle flashed a couple of times and then all three lights went off. After a short while the VSA and VSA triangle come back on but ABS stays off.

If I turn ignition off and then turn on without the terminals bridged or grounded then I am back to square one with all three lights on again.

Am I doing something wrong what.

Regards

I'll bet a forum thumbs up you've got at least one dodgy abs sensor - my crystal ball says driver side rear lol

As above, it's probably a fault with one or more wheel senors.

The paper-clip thing is same as using the Honda SCS (see --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23543-obd2-scs-absvsa/?p=244911 ) so it's only really reading codes.

You need to clear the codes first, which can also be done using the SCS (or a paper-clip) --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23396-abs-vsa-fault-anybody-got-any-advice-please-cos-i-wanna-scream/?p=242991

When you've cleared the codes, read them again, and use this link to diagnose which sensor(s) is faulty --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23513-vsa-to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-question-lol/?p=244588

Then fix the faulty sensor(s).

Then clear the codes, and read them again.

Hi Guys

You two weren't far wrong!!!

It was indeed the sensors on both wheels. I fitted two new wheel hubs a few months ago and both started throwing grease out and onto the sensors hence the fault readings.

I also had to top the brake fluid up which was another fault code reading.

Has anyone had any experience with Nordic car parts. That's what these were and both failed withing three months of fitting. Supposed to be OEM but not so sure now.

Anyway fault codes sorted - no more lights up on the panel - job sorted - Many thanks for all the help.

Regards

Great stuff
