Has anyone removed the rubber bushes through which the guide pins slide? If so, whats's the best way to get them out without damaging them. I don't want to spend £45 on new ones unnecessarily.

There's a long, slightly tapered bit sticking out of the back of the caliper and a thin flange on the other end. It's tempting to try and pull the bush out by the long end and hope that the flange will squash up through the hole in the caliper bracket. Would that work (***uming the bush hasn't welded itself in after 8 years)? Getting the thing back in could also be a bit of a black art I reckon.

Ta.

Not with you? The brakes come apart pretty easily (excellent guide here: http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/5536-diy-8th-gen-auto-idtec-brake-pad-change/).

By the rubber bush do you mean the bit lower-centre of this picture?

If so, I'm not sure they're meant to come out. Or why you'd want it out for that matter -unless it's already damaged? Are you painting the caliper? I imagine they fit tapered end first with a bit of lube, snap into position and stay there for good. Have you looked for a non-genuine replacement? Brakes International seem to have most things...
