1.8 starter motor issue.

Ok so a few weeks ago I came to start my car and after investigating several options of what the problem might be it turns out that the starter motor was stuck so after a tap with a hammer the car started up right away.
Today it did it again and after a tap with the hammer she started up.
When I was making enquiries to get a new one the parts people said the one on my car is from a 2.3 engine so my question is is the one I have wrong and causing her to feel weak on start up every morning and also is that causing the sticking?

According (!) to the Lings Honda Parts website, starter motors for both the 1.8 and the 2.3 (manual transmission models) have the same Honda part number, 31200PDAE03...

Usualy if the hammer helps the brushes are on the way out
