Hi all, and I apologise in advance for the question and when I did a search there was a lot of similar questions, but not a definite answer.

I have a 07 Accord Type S and the standard wheels are really nice but I think I fancy a change. Are these wheels 7" or 7.5" wide, and is the offset 55?

I'm going to lower it on Tein springs which give a 40mm drop at the front and a 30mm drop at the rear. Sticking with 17" wheels how wide and low an offset can I go? Incidentally I have zero interest in stance and running loads of camber, not going to start mud slinging, just not my thing.

I've been on an offset calculator looking at 17x8.5 et35 wheels which says they will poke out 33mm or 39mm more than my current wheels (depending on my wheels being 7" or 7.5" wide) and with a quick look at a measuring tape I don't have that sort of space. But yet, I've seen one car on here with 9.5" rear wheels, so if someone could offer some advice that'd be great.

Thanks,
Mark.

The standard wheel will be a 7" rim.

My car has a 8.5" et42's up front without an arch roll.

That's the absolute limit before you start needing to roll and stretch the arches, cut off arch liner clips etc.

As to the rear, I can't comment as mine's a tourer, so has more space out back due to the setup.

17x8 et45's would probably be a nice setup if you want an easy life.

From experience, a 225 tyre sits really nicely on an 8" rim.
Sits square at the shoulder, and the rim protectors still do their job on certain brands of tyre too.

Nothing wrong with an 8.5 in the right offset, but you do get enough stretch with a 225 for the rim protection on the tyre to become redundant.
