Dear All.

I'm thinking of buying a 2.2 CDTi because all the car mechanics I've spoken to reckon Hondas are the most reliable car manufacturer.

I took a 170k miler for a test drive. On start up and for a few minutes afterwards the exhaust was pushing out blue-tinged smoke but this disappeared after a while. Other than that the engine ran smoothly with no problems and the car performed well.

Is this a common (healthy) trait of these diesel engines or is there a problem? It was a cold day and I was told the car had been sat for several days without running so perhaps some crud had built up in the exhaust which caused the smoking.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul.

Blue smoke means it's burning oil.. possibly turbo seals
