Took my Accord 2013 Tourer for a service the other day 4 years old and 32,000 miles. The garage suggested the pads and disks needed changing ... I can see the pads have limited life but do the disks really need changing at this mileage?

Ask them what is the current thickness of the disks and how this compares to the specifications?

Don't know your exact car but here are some examples of the specified minimum thicknesses:

Brake disc and drum dimensions

Minimum disc thickness for replacement - ventilated

Front

23 mm

  • Twin piston caliper = 30 mm
Minimum disc thickness for replacement

Rear

8 mm

If it was 32 miles of motorway driving with minimum braking then maybe it would be considered too soon, if it was hard driving then no, city driving stop start, maybe. As said above, ask to see disc measurement, as there is a minimum recommended width, if you're a mm or two over the garage could be just doing preventative maintenance.

Iv always kept to 2 sets of pads to one set of disks OEM and nether had any problems.
The only time I would change early is if they were shot from damage or overheating
